India Developing, but still a long way to go

India has started a series of road shows to promote medical tourism in India. The medical tourism in India is growing at the speed of 35 per cent annually due to world class treatment.

India has become one of the major medical tourism destination. India specialized dental treatment, knee transplant, neurosurgery as well cosmetic surgery. Due to cheap treatment India has become first choice of the medical tourists.

So far this year 63,000 medical tourists have traveled to India for treatment. Tourism Ministry is expecting somewhere between 85,000 to 100,000 medical tourists this year.

Therefore India has started a series of road shows to promote medical tourism. Last month these shows took place in Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam. This week road shows are taking place in United States and Caribbean countries.

Obviously bottom, more load re: center of gravity for metro train and shock-wave absorption etc.

Agree though about 'shabaash'; Jaipur always had good infra like roads, pavement's, bazaar's and other public buildings.

Exceptional case, like Chandigarh, or Delhi, or Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata earlier under Colonial mgmt.!

Colonial infra., best-of-class for it's time (think Bombay's Queen's Necklace / Chowpatty or Lutyen's Delhi) ran it's course and was run down by the 80's, degraded in the 90's and then self - ghettoised, phenominally re: pop. & industrial pressure.

Now that India's got money to re-do it's infra. that's been overdue for a generation at least; like France and Saudi Arabia (no really!), this thread shows it's the best thing to happen in India since .. hehe ... sliced bread :agree: .

Re: Nishan's post, agree 100% ! Probably better.

Give it time, and some good political stability. Already parts of Karachi are like so re: Clifton DHA.
Also India has some catching up to do vs. Karachi, Isloo & Lahore too, specially infra & service ind. side.

Indo-Carib, if that's Chennai 'downtown', I'll be damned. Where River meets sea is speciall like Manhattan or New York! Old school MAdras was a British port we know, so is this pic. 'downtown'?

Sorry your posts hardly make sense..With hee heee, shoo shaaa and irrelevant comparisons, posts become quite annoying.

Nishan, fear not; Karachi will go the same way as India primarily because nobody is building Taj Mahal's in India.
Per posts in thread, mass, mid size, utility type construction is the norm in India. Except it's still pricey.

Momemtum's built up. Demand-supply is skewed. Demand is for mid-to-low middle class mass housing. The buildings look the part but are way over-priced for the segment. Things will even out in due time. Same-same re: Karachi, when the time comes it'll all be done and over with in 10 yrs. Many top Mumbai and Delhi builders had/have roots in Pakistan. And of course Pak cities start off from a better base ;) .

@ nishan, below pic. captures the epitome of the essence of emerging India.
Beyond the slick glass cladding, note the low-&-mid rise standard rebar-on-concrete construction.
This is no 'downtown' but a leading and adjacent sub-city in the Delhi NCR area. No Taj-Mahal's ;) :

In property industry terms, said low-rises are future investments. Value un-lock :) !
Easy to knock down and replace with a 40, 60, 100 story tower.
From shacks to uber high rises, the actions starting up in Bombay, check:

@Bhim - "You know, there's a great sense of pride to be able to be involved in a human endeavor that takes us all a little bit farther. When you look down and see our Earth, and you realize what we are trying to do as a human race, it's pretty profound." - Barbara Morgan, August 22, 2007
