It's useless to use BD as blackmail: One day you see that your city have water shortage, Machine without water for cooling, agriculture and farm with dry land, people dehydrated...then you will crawl to beg us for water...we can screw up your entire nation just with water...China will never have water treaty with India period.:azn:

India is not building dams on the Brahmaputra river (only on tributaries originating in India).

However, China's dams on the main Brahmaputra river will directly reduce the water supply going to Bangladesh.

This is a matter between China and Bangladesh.

China may soon have many thirsty, angry neighbors - Bangladesh, Burma, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam.

Does China really need all these dams to provide water for Tibet and the Uighur province? I don't expect the Chinese to take the Tibetans and Uighurs on board in any such decisions, but it seems they are doing this purely for geo-political reasons such as wanting to gain somewhat of a chokehold on India's river systems. Water, after all, is considered to be one of the major resources over which future conflict is expected to arise. Lets hope not, though. I sincerely hope China can make a somewhat equal treaty with India over the rivers that run through the Himalayas, similar to the Indus water treaty we have with Pakistan.

Its sad to see some Chinese people here gloating and feeling proud of the fact that you can cutoff the lifeline of the people in the subcontinent. More than 99% of the people in this subcontinent have been here, sustaining ourselves and our collective civilizations from these rivers for several thousands of years, before almost all of the modern religions or states came into being. Whereas your Han civilization, which we respect, started in the yellow river thousands of kilometres east of here. You people never depended on these Himalayan rivers for your existence, yet ever since Chamdo you have such a keen interest in damming it up and diverting the water, claiming it belongs to you?

Is this what Marx and Engels, Lenin and Trotsky preached? I don't know which is sadder, your attitude towards neighbours or your pseudo-communism which has taken up the appearance of everything Marx warned of, a nationalistic, semi-imperialist, expansionist and autocratic capitalist state disguised as a vanguard for the proletariat.

The Himalayas and its rivers belong to people that have always lived here, Tibetans and peoples of the subcontinent. Please respect that, and don't degrade your own image with loose talk. Even during the squabbles and wars amongst ourselves, we never cut off water or violated the treaties to our neighbouring countries. Hopefully we restore our trust, do away with this brainless posturing and learn to share Himalayan waters equitably at the soonest.

China-India today is not the same as we were hundred years ago, no more chini Indi Bhai Bhai, we're locking into antigonism over boundary and geo-politic issues, each nation is looking for its own interests after all, so matter what so ever reasons you try to justify, ultimately it's China to decide what is the best interest for China over water issue.

BD and NE freedom fighter groups need to work out contingencies to blow these dams away whenever an opportunity arises.
does that include the dams in chinese teritory as well???? as far as i know the dams in indian side will be enuf to cater the needs of NE , hence NE freedom fighters wont have a pretext to go against these indian dams. on the contrary, they would be surprised india is doing much for their NE brethren by building dams.

No, both the Yellow River and the Yangtze River have their source in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau.

Karl Marx, lol.

Marxist Communism advocated a society in which there is no private ownership, and no social classes.

Now go look at China's enormous and powerful Private Sector and tell me about Marxism. Our system is called "Socialism with Chinese characteristics".

few observations:
1. stupid name of topic
2. when it comes to water share china will get the lions share while bengalis will become extinct. assam will somehow survive due to the dam in question.
3. chinese would have damed the river sooner or later because they had to capitalize each and every source they cud find for water and power (two most important commodities in future)
4. indians can do nothing except collecting watever water chinese are leaving for them and then play lions to the bangladeshis. unless the chinese have the ability to divert each and every drop, they cant pressurize india on anything.unless off course, the dams are free flow.
5. only thing to worry is that the bangladeshis will be the big loser in the squabble between china and india.
