All muslim majority areas of british ruled areas..that did not apply to princely states. Kashmir was a princely state not a direct british province.

Pakistan. If you read some books, although British exploited us but Lord Mountbatten wanted everything to be settled through peaceful negotiations between India and Pakistan before returning to UK. Pakistan wanted all three- Junagarh, Hyderabad and Kashmir. Pakistan rejected any negotiation that asked them to giveup dream of having Junagarh and Hyderabad for Kashmir. Even after losing Junagarh, Pakistan still wanted both Kashmir and Hyderabad. When Pakistan invaded Kashmir, it ended up as the part of India and still Pakistan thought of having Hyderabad which was still independent along with Junagarh and Kashmir.
