A civilization is an ever changing beast.
But at the heart of it I believe it is Blood, Faith and Soil. The three elements of unbroken continuity.
Only India continues to have all 3.
Oscar believes there is a fourth thread that surpasses all 3.
Language.
But from where I see it, that is peoplehood. Not civilization.
As I've told the Iranians across generations here many times, I can put Africans in Iran and by the second generation they will all be speaking fluent Persian.
Cheers, Doc
Civillisations are not only ever changing, they also rise and fall over time. There is nothing special about what you describe as the "Indian" civillisation that would make me want to accept its hegemony over myself and my people.
Even what you describe as "Indian" only arose due to foreign migration/invasion assimilating, destroying or co-opting local traditions. There is no saying in future if what you describe as "Indian" civilisation will even exist.
The Mayans, Atlanteans, Aztecs, Khmers, Incas, Romans, Anasazis, Olmecs, Haumakas, Sumerians, Elamites, Cannites, Hittites, Phoenician, Etruscan, Mandan, Nabataeans civillisations, amongst others, no longer exist. I am sure they they each thought of themselves so invincible that they would last till the end of times.
Please tell me why, as a Pakistani, I should adopt what you describe as "Indian" civillisation. I am not concerned that I share traits with you. I share many traits with others to the western border as well. What is so special about your civillisation?
You can put an African in Iran, that might not change anything. But if 2 million heavily armed Africans, with the resources and guile to takeover, migrated to Iran around 2000 years ago, then I am sure the Iranians would be speaking an African language today. After all, that is exactly how the Iranians themselves came to be.
