India aborts a human Moon mission

^ When India plans to complete the project by 2020, it will get it done by 2025. I think after being almost 6 years on this forum you know this. :D

India first needs to develop the technology to send a man to space and only then can it dream about landing someone on the moon.

How far is India in doing that?

.
Except for the space review, I am not finding the news anywhere:blink:

.
Thanks they have aborted.... this mission would have failed and precious life would have been lost... India would never passed this test alone without Russia's help.

:hitwall:I see that you are very happy...good for you, we will still continue to set the bar high..do we achieve it or not, we will surely try.

ISRO is targeting to start the "first round of the selection process" for finding potential astronauts in 2020.

So if they meet that deadline (doubtful)... then they will still have to take several more years to both complete the selection process, and then actually train the astronauts to an acceptable level.

So IF all the deadlines are met, they might be able to send a human being into space by 2025.

And that is under the optimistic assumption that India will be able to meet all their deadlines and projected budgets, considering their vastly slowing rate of economic growth.

Yeap. I pretty much said 2025 is when India can realistically send a Man to Space. But given its India, I won't be surprised if it gets pushed back to 2030 before India can send an astronaut to space on a Russian Rocket. :D

.
being realistic is the baby step to be a real something. I'd say India is on the right track.

cut down defense spending, focus on livelihood of grassroots people, get along with neighbors, let people enjoy their lives, india and indians get respects.

are these not good enough?

Nehru had led India to a road of no return. and that has to be changed.
Its not only about Nehru , Its both Nehru and Jinnah who made a nation in to two , making them enemies . Atleast the one led by the former has now the capability to send a satellite on moon .

Actually its already in pipeline. I said we may send man to space by 2025. But we can run moon manned mission in parallel starting in low profile from 2015 to send one man to moon by 2030.

We won't have sanctions that ISRO had in crucial years from 1998 till now.

I don't mind if India plans manned space mission and MARS rover.

Look at budget of ISRO and other space agencies especially of US, Russia (technology), China and Japan.

Only a 5 year gap between sending a man into space and landing one on the moon?

Even USA send its first man in Space in 1959 and landed a man on the moon in 1969. A 10 year gap and India is expecting to do this in 5 years?

You do realize that making advances that no one has done is far more time consuming than others following them. US sent man on moon in 1969 and then compare their Mars mission.

I have asked you to look at leap frog effect on technological advancement. China is the prime example of it. Once you know how to do things, what to consider, what to avoid your pace in similar project will be higher than those who were the first. You may even to do it more efficiently.

Also look at my argument of carrying out project in parallel. The similarities in Space and moon mission will reduce the time period along with parallelism.

ISRO is not like DRDO. Its way better than other Indian organizations.

First of all there is no mooned mission in planning right not. There is no mission in Isro's mind, nor in Govts mind. We have more imp things to do. Gslv mk3 relizing its full potential can carry upto 20 tonnes to space. If we get it right we chave to first master manned mission, then eva and then a docking. The Sre 2 mission nxt year will almost ensure all techs related to manned mission. It will test all space capsule techs. Govt of India has already released 300 crores to start building up facilities. According to annual report of isro crew escape module is scheduled to be tested by july 2013.

I iaf has already begin screening astronauts for mission.

Air Force begins screening astronauts for maiden human space flight - Bangalore - DNA

The reasons why we are not hearing any details of this mission is that, govt doesn't want any hulla hooooo... 2 Isro rockets failed, confidence is down, funding is down and if another fails the entire mission will also be down.

The program has got in principal approval from govt of India, formal approval will come only is isro proves it can build a reliable rocket with over 5000kg payload.

If you want your dearest friendly country to hit space then just pray that mk3 hits the sky flawlessly.

It is not an official report isnt it? If it is, then it is totally uncustomary for indians to make such an announcement!

And before India develop the technology to send a man to space, India must develop a rocket that have enough thrust and reliability first.

Another one of Indias tricks... I kinda feel bad for Indians now... So much setbacks, delays, underperformance...
