Imran Khan Announces to give Pak Citizenship to Afghan Refugees

That's the thing though, there is no border control. They can come and go anytime they want. This is why they tend to be criminals/terrorists, it has little to do with CNIC. Its because they have one leg in Pakistan and rest of body in Afghanistan. They can do what ever they want in Pakistan and get away with. Did you know in punjab south western districts after murder people used to move to FATA, live there 5-6 months and come back. By that time police and family of victim have moved on and they reach settlement. And we are talking about people from punjab here, who eventually have to come back.

This is why every province think they are security risk. Why do you think Peshawar and DI Khan banned afghani entry in Muharram week?

More importantly Afghanistan behave like enemy state and have yet to accept Pakistan borders.

In that case, if we can't enforce our borders, this is a bad idea. we need to be able to prevent criminals to get away without facing justice. Law Enforcement in the FATA, now part of KPK needs to be stepped up.

Do Afghanis carry any ID cards issued by Afghanistan? If so, then registering each person with NADRA and being able to check known people, with their SIM cards can crack down on criminals getting away.

Security is the first priority, but my point is, we should try to assimilate those born in Pakistan as much as possible. If they don't assimilate they are a security risk, more so then just a few criminals, but a whole class of people, that could take over whole cities.

.
People who believe this are gullible. He literally doesn't have the power to do this, without parliamentary and judicial support.

And even if he did,it would worsen the economic situation, as there would suddenly be 4 million more mouths to feed from national coffers.

This is literally fake news.

On a side note, i've said this before, Pakistan's immigration policy needs to be reformed. Afghans that have money and can live stable lives, while paying taxes should be allowed to stay and gain citizenship.

Pakistan should also think about instituting a form of foreign legion for poorer Afghans that want to stay within Pakistan. Let them serve for Pakistan's security, in exchange for citizenship (service guarantees citizenship).

Pakistan has a number of options that it can institute, but the lack of political will and promotion of stupidity are forcing it to stay stagnant on the Afghan refugee issue.

Of course we cannot control our borders. The day I see proper border control then we could think about supporting giving citizenship to afghanis born in Pakistan who never left.

This idea of serving in security forces for citizenship comes from western based members here. Pakistan dynamics are completely different, there are to many people willing to join security forces and not enough budget to accommodate all let alone afghanis.

Nearly One in Seven U.S. Residents Are Now Immigrants

Highest foreign-born share in 107 years

A report by the Center for Immigration Studies analyzes new data from the 2017 American Community Survey (ACS), released by the Census Bureau Thursday, showing the nation's immigrant population (legal and illegal) has reached 44.5 million - the highest number in U.S. history. Growth was led by immigrants from Latin American countries other than Mexico, as well as Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. The number from Mexico, Europe and Canada either remained flat or declined since 2010. The Census Bureau refers to immigrants as the foreign-born population.

"American continues to experience the largest wave of mass immigration in our history. The decline in Mexican immigrants has been entirely offset by immigration from the rest of the world. By 2027, the immigrant share will hit its highest level in U.S. history, and continue to rise," said Steven Camarota, the Center's director of research and co-author of the report.

1.Main points
  • Non-UK populations (non-UK born and non-British nationals) continued to increase in 2017; since reporting began in 2004, the non-UK populations of the UK have increased year-on-year as more non-UK people continue to come to the UK to live than move to live abroad for a year or more.
  • The non-UK born population increased from 9.2 million in 2016 to 9.4 million in 2017 (up 3%) and the non-British population increased from 6.0 million to 6.2 million (up 4%).
  • The increase in non-UK populations in the last few years has been largely accounted for by EU populations, particularly EU14 and EU2, with those born in Romania, or with Romanian nationality, seeing the largest increases.
  • Poland remains the most common non-UK country of birth, taking over from India in 2015 (which reflected longer-term migration trends); Polish has been the most common non-British nationality in the UK since 2007.
  • In 2017, there were 3.6 million people resident in the UK who were born abroad and held British nationality – people born outside the EU are more likely to hold British nationality than those born in the EU.

2.Statistician’s comment
“Non-UK born and non-British populations continued to increase in 2017, as more people continue to come to the UK to live than move to live abroad for a year or more.

“Poland-born residents and Polish nationals were the most common populations from outside the UK, with an estimated 1 million Polish nationals now living in the UK. However, the largest increases in population were seen from those born in Romania and those with Romanian nationality.”

3.Things you need to know about this release
Country of birth refers to the country that a person was born in and cannot change. Nationality refers to the nationality stated by the respondent when they are interviewed and is subject to change.

Estimates of the population of the UK by country of birth and nationality are based upon data from the Annual Population Survey (APS). The APS is a survey of households in the UK, so does not include most communal establishments. The APS, which began in 2004, is a continuous survey, comprising the Labour Force Survey (LFS), supplemented by sample boosts in England, Wales and Scotland to ensure small areas are sufficiently sampled.

Following user feedback from our consultation at the end of 2016, it was requested that we provide more timely data. Therefore, we will now be releasing data twice a year, in May (calendar year) and November (mid-year); this means that we are publishing data five months after the reference period. Previously, data were released eight months after the reference period in August each year.

This bulletin should be read alongside the published tables of Population by country of birth and nationality, January 2017 to December 2017 and the underlying datasets. Full details of definitions, data and methods can be found in the Population by country of birth and nationality Quality and Methodology Information and International Migration – terms, definitions and frequently asked questions.

Please note that all the changes detailed in the release are statistically significant unless specifically stated otherwise.

I support this and i think its long overdue. Children born in Pakistan, should be automatically citizens of the country. This is how it happens in every civilized nations.

Till now children born to refugees who have lived for decades in Pakistan are destined to live a miserable life. How is it fair that these children have no future and are mistreated and in many cases are exploited. And then people wonder why they resort to crimes and why they hate Pakistan.

.
If this really happens Pakistan is in deep sh##.

- Anybody who thinks refugees who are shown leniency suddenly become loyal citizens is a fool. No 'ghairatmand' Pakistani in the West loses loyalty to Pakistan, what makes you think Afghans will let go of their millennia of history?

- every refugee is sugar and spice when they live as refugees. Once they become citizens, the demands start. Just look at what refugees are doing everywhere else in the world.

- once refugees are given citizenship, they encourage the rest of their village to come too. This just confirms the belief that illegal immigration pays off.

- no disrespect, most Afghans are more brutal and ruthless than Pakistanis. They will decimate locals when it comes to business competition or rivalry of any kind.

The only silver lining might be that finally the 'ummah' Pakistanis will get their wish. And when their homes are ruined by the brothers, it may finally dawn on them how the world really works.

Edit: actually legalisation is probably inevitable. You can't get rid of that many people, so you will have to accept them sooner or later. And it will be ruinous.
But then from the ruin, Pakistan will likely grow again but in a new image - one that rejects the ummah sentimentality like post ottoman Turkey.

ik will not bring any positive change in Pakistan.

There is another thing being pandered over and over is that these people will be a burden in the state. This is si funny that it hurts! Pakistan as a state has no social net, no Medicare no social security no free education... I mean literally you are on your own yet some think that people who are already living in Pakistan and contributing to it for decades will all of a sudden become a burden, I mean really? Those people will be there regardless now there is an argument in U.S. that illegals are a net burden as they receive all the social benefits promised by the state yet they do not contribute or at least not enough thus becoming a net negative which by the way is inherently false as the illegals pull more than their weight in U.S. doing not only more but for less hence improving output lowering costs. Either way, there is no solid argument other than Pakistanis accepting the states own propaganda peddled for years accusing everything on them while Afghans doing exactly the same in their country thereby making people antithetical to each other... Afghans share more with Pakistan then they or Pakistanis share with anyone in their neighborhood.

Pakistan have government hospitals, schools, free medicines, medical insurance card, Benazir income support etc For all that you need Pakistani citizenship.

And Pakistan cannot afford burden millions of afghanis when it can't provide basic services to their own.

.
Bingo. We could set up a French style elite infantry regiment like they have "Foreign Legion". Call it "Afghanka Brigade" and use it for special operations. It gives jobs to young men and helps Pakistan. On top of that it binds those to Pakistan. Think of what even the mighty Ottomans did with "Jannisarry".
Not sure trolling or serious?
