Sadly I never extracted the puppy to get D-dog. Damn Miller kept discouraging me.
I am pretty sure you didn't listen to him when it was time to save/kill Quite--

Kangals dont have an agressive nature but a very protective instinct and a strong bond to its family that its supposed to protect.
Yes that's what they are for, but generally speaking they have the strongest bite force. German Shepard is round about 250 PSI and Kangal is 700+ PSI. Imagine what it will do to the bone with that pressure.

This will answer your question

Islam forbids Muslims to keep dogs, and the punishment for that is that the one who does that loses one or two qiraats from his hasanaat (good deeds) each day. An exception has been made in the case of keeping dogs for hunting, guarding livestock and guarding crops.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever keeps a dog, except a dog for herding, hunting or farming, one qiraat will be deducted from his reward each day.” Narrated by Muslim, 1575.

It was narrated that ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever keeps a dog, except a dog for herding livestock or a dog that is trained for hunting, two qiraats will be deducted from his reward each day.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5163; Muslim, 1574.

Is it permissible to keep a dog to guard houses?

Al-Nawawi said:

There is a difference of opinion as to whether it is permissible to keep dogs for purposes other than these three, such as for guarding houses and roads. The most correct view is that it is permissible, by analogy with these three and based on the reason that is to be understood from the hadeeth, which is necessity. End quote.

Sharh Muslim, 10/236

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

Based on this, if a house is in the middle of the city there is no need to keep a dog to guard it, so keeping a dog for this purpose in such situations is haraam and is not permitted, and it detracts one or two qiraats from a person’s reward every day. They should get rid of this dog and not keep it. But if the house is in the countryside and there is no one else around, then it is permissible to keep a dog to guard the house and the people who are in it; guarding the members of the household is more important than guarding livestock or crops. End quote.

Majmoo’ Fataawa Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, 4/246

There are several scholarly views about reconciling the reports which say “one qiraat” and those which say “two qiraats”.

Al-Haafiz al-‘Ayni (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:

(a) It may be that they have to do with two types of dogs, one of which could cause more harm than the other.

(b) It was said that “two qiraats” applies in cities and villages, and “one qiraat” applies in the countryside.

(c) It was said that they were said at two different times – “one qiraat” was mentioned first, then the warning was made more strict and two qiraats were mentioned.

‘Umdat al-Qaari, 12/158.

Thank you for your response it was exactly what I was looking for!

Hi All,

I'm looking for a guard dog. Could you all suggest what is the best breed to guard my house?

Pls note I don't want a pet, nor am I interested in spending a lot of time with it. And ideally it should suffice with very less maintainance.

Pls suggest.

Get a Bull-Terrier, anyone messing with it will surely regret. Their bite is just awesome, and they don't let go the opponent even dogs bigger than them as I've witnessed this myself many times. My uncle's pair used to patrol on the walls all night and slept after morning.

Ask @DESERT FIGHTER

He seems to know his dogs.

I would suggest a hardy Pakistani variety than an import. Unless you are living some place really cold.

Bully kutta would be my pick. He looks the business.

Also, its best to have at least two. Dogs double team beautifully, and its very rare that an intruder can put both down simultaneously.

Rotts are lethal at night. Totally silent, near invisible, and wait till the last moment before moving. But they are not low maintenance.

IF I decide to get a dog, it will be Rottweiler since a distant relative is a breeder and I can get a lot of advice on how to take care of it.

I am not looking for an obedient dog, I just want that when I go to sleep at night, I can unchain him and he would atleast alert me if somebody tries to break in. My house has a lot of agricultural land on the back side and the only think separating them is an 8 foot wall.

Also note, that I have enough space outside my house and he can be taken to a walk or roam freely by himself.

Bully is a big dogs .. Demands a lot of care -- and food..

I personally have hounds, german shepherds and 2 labs...

I had bully once but it was a fight dog and my mother didn't like a big aggressive dog roaming around .. The servant couldn't really control it either ...

So he can either get some Pakistani hounds or a german Shep...

you think they guard anything? They loot :p:

Or are you talking about the guard dogs they keep? :undecided:

German or Rottweiler are nice dogs .. Specially German (my first dog was a shepherd - my uncle bought it home when I was a few months old...)..

Belgian Malinois?

Equal or maybe one up on smarts, and without the hip f*ups later on in life.

That's a nice dog.. One of my friends have a very awesome & trained Belgian ... You couldn't touch the guy in his (Dogs) presence .. Similarly Rottweiler and hounds are also nice .... My grandfather (RIP) loved dogs .. He had em and the same story ... The dog would pounce on you if you dared to even touch him (friendly tap or handshake was enough)... :)

Dogs are really loyal creatures unlike humans...

From catching thiefs... Not eating if their master wasn't around (and dying of that)... I've seen it all .. No creature is as loyal as a dog ... Or a horse (to some extent).
