Seriously when did incompetency become a strategy ? If pakistan has trillion dollars will they park their money with US? or will they wipe out poverty and enrich themselves.

The fact is that china has ******no alternative or confidence in its own economy ****** hence they put their money in US bonds. Why are not they investing in their own country ? Have they completely eradicated the poverty or have they become so generous all of a sudden?

Even middle east arabs look better at least they use oil to enrich themselves and their citizens by providing tax cuts, subsidized services.


If India hoards a trillion dollars I would demand free university education or universal healthcare for every one.

I doubt there'll be any exclusive Chinese Base in Pakistan but there can be arrangement where we can allow Chinese to use our bases if it serves our interests.

Re: currency, we have been using USD, JPY, EUR, GBP, AED for trade, why nobody raise concern about it.

are you saying there will not be an exclusive chinese base? will it be similar to how US uses some of the airbases in Pakistan?

I am not in favor of Giving Chinese a Military base, but we can just let them use one of ours which is close to Iran Border to keep an eye on Indian activity and make sure there is no threat to CPEC .

Their's is an export driven economy, they can't afford too much appreciation of RMB or significant weakening of the dollar, that's why they accumulate so much US debt and never offload it. And by buying US treasuries they're also able to store all of that in the safest investments in the world. If other countries had similar conditions to China, and had the ability to get away with intervening as PBOC does, they would. I remember reading Japan tried something similar in the 80s but capitulated to US demands.

You're right about both the things in bold, actually, the two things are completely related!
For decades you've been making lots of money from exports, and sitting on a lot of capital that needs investment, and all the US has allowed you to do is buy their treasury bonds, CPEC and wider OBOR are a strategy for challenging that existing situation. We in Pakistan are both grateful and fully committed.

China is our ally, the US is both completely unreliable and has been very unreasonable. Still, it's a superpower that we can't afford to mess with especially too brazenly, Pakistan by comparison is a pipsqueak, perhaps not in the region, but globally that's true.

Yes we are weak when compared to USA obviously.

But Letting China have a military base in Pakistan is not a bad idea.

CNY already being used for LC like JPY, USD, EUR, GBP and AED since few years, with recent state bank of Pakistan's approval, now it can be used for non-LC transactions and for FDI as well. So, It's not the plan - CNY is at par with USD now in Pakistan.
