It seems like sikhs as a community would have been better off if they decided to cast their lot with the muslims instead of treacherous Congress in 1947?
If the sikhs had decided to join Pakistan, partition of punjab province would not have been necessary, and forced migration and massacres in punjab could have been avoided.

But instead sikhs had a foolish leader like Master Tara singh, who was waving a sword at Punjab Assembly in Lahore and foolishly declaring that sikhs can prevent the creation of Pakistan. He also said an inflammatory speech about muslims.

And within 3 decades after partition, sikhs were betrayed and back-stabbed by the treacherous hindu baniyas. They were further humiliated by Operation bluestar 1984. The indian government also took away haryana and himachal pradesh from the sikhs, who were now left with a truncated punjab where sikhs are barely 60% of the population.

Plus Sikhs have much more in common with Hindus than your lot and as for the creation of Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. Sikh representative Master Tara Singh decided to join the India on a condition that there will be Sikh-majority state.

But after independence it was hard to divide Punjab based on religion as it was against Indian constitution so they divided Punjab based on language where Sikhs just happened to be in majority. Hence, their condition was fulfilled.

In one word, politics. His bitterness was against politicians, who used and threw him. Dont forget, it was Sikhs who were mostly responsible for crushing the rebelian, from Brar to Gill.

there will be people who admire him, much like we still have people who admire Hitler.

point being his vision is in tatters today and is not of a majority opinion.
we Sikhs are one of the most influential and powerful minorities of India, and much of what we have achieved could not have been possible if we were a small religious state.

not much to be honest. we worked together to cut PK in size and crushed the khalistani movement while keeping our part of kashmir.
in essence, it has been working pretty good for our lot.

You guys clearly wanted a Muslim majority "islamic" state. These guys wanted a sikh dominated state - will they go with a "Secular" state or an "islamic" state? surely they wont have even whatever miniscule say they have now.

That is very debateable. Both islam and sikhism believe in the Oneness of God, denounce the caste system (although some muslims and sikhs in sub-continent still continue to follow the caste nonsense because of hindu influence). Both religions are also strongly against worshipping idols!!

Nobody has asked Muslims and Sikhs to worship idol. Everyone has their own space, where they can follow their own religion.

Religion is a part of human life but not the one and only thing.

There are lots of things to do in this earth. Life is short and needs to be enjoyed to the fullest, to do something and become something rather than sticking with and sitting with only one thing.

In 1675 Aurangzeb caused the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur. He had gone to Aurangzeb on behalf of Kashmiri Pandits, who requested him to plead against their forceful conversion. Aurangzeb asked Guru Tegh Bahadur to convert and had him executed after he refused to convert to Islam.[5] According to Kushwant Singh, when "Guru Tegh Bahadur was summoned to Delhi, he went as a protector of the Kashmiri Hindu community and encourage them to stand against the increasing oppression of the Mughals. He was executed in the year 1675. His son who succeeded him as Guru later described his father's martyrdom as in the cause of the humanity. Guru Tegh Bahadar undertook the supreme sacrifice for the protection of the most fundamental of human rights - the right of a person to freely practice his or her religion without interference or hindrance. This is why Guru Tegh Bahadur is also known as Tegh Bahadur, Hind Di Chadar" (Tegh Bahadur, Protector of Hindus). Many Sikhs view Guru Tegh Bahadur as "Insaaf Di Kand" (blockade of injustice), stopping the injust conversions to Islam.

Guru Tegh Bahadur is also honored by Punjabi Hindus and the Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day is also observed by many Punjabi Hindus.[6]
