Yes other religions have a similar concept regarding an end times-savior but then the other religions have a lot of other amal similarities too such as fasting for lent (Christianity), praying towards a particular direction (Judaism), tawaf around a Holy site (paganism similarity) and that doesn't imply that we should not do or practice our version of those similar concepts, similarly if other religions have a concept of an end times savior it doesn't negate the fact that Islam may have one too.

The concept of the center around which everything revolves is found in major world religions.

All human stories. All spoke of messiahs or villains, is it an actual repeating divine event or just an inbuilt need to have justice and leadership on perception.

The story keeps going on and will evolvez

The Quran mentions no messiah as such and has left it pretty vague. Everything else is/has changed and hence unreliable.

Yes. The thing is, there is no any authentic thing available about Mehdi. How can people rely on such thing?
And even if such Imam is destined to come, then look at us, are we worthy of such person? I will correct my self, my family and friends, rather than waiting for Iman to come. Whether he comes or not, doesn't matter, but I am sure I will correct many things before my death(InshaAllah).

I've had this discussion with you before, that we aren't waiting for anyone. And we share same perspective as far as last sentence goes. So I hope you aren't misunderstanding my posts.

I don't know why anyone would tie this to pillar of Islams. Pillars of Islam are meant to be observed irregardless of the time. To ones best ability. You're of course not supposed to wait for any sign to begin observing the pillars of Islam. Or making our community a better place and better ourselves.

If Mahdi would be sent by ALLAH then why would he need ulema to persuade him to accept the role? Quran clearly mentions that the previous Messenger did inform his people about coming of the next one. Moses informed about Jesus and Muhammad and Jesus informed about Muhammad ........ did Muhammad Peace be upon him inform about coming of any savior in these times? There is nothing in Quran to prove that and the traditions are just man made stories.

Any righteous governor and ruler is Mahdi, any righteous God fearing family head is Mahdi. Mahdi may have been propagated as a person who would come and establish rule of Islam, and in process overthrow regimes ...... and interestingly he would be fighting wars for most part of his life (people who invented this wanted to portray that Islam is violent and needs violence for it to spread) ...... but today we can adopt it as a concept at individual level and mend our ways and get active ...... the whole waiting for an individual to come and sort out your mess and solve your problems has somehow rendered us lazy and incapable.

My father in law was POW of 1971 war, he sometimes tells stories about his internment period. Once he mentioned that there was this Major of PA amongst POWs who tried all his best to somehow convince his colleagues to break free from the camp even if it involved fighting .... but others won't pay any heed to his plans .... so one fine morning after Fajar prayers he announced to his companions that I am Mahdi and I have been given this task to lead you to fight and break free of this imprisonment.

Salam, I'm not entirely sure on 'fard' but I believe scholars suggest it is and some ahadeeth point to so. He is not savior or messiah. Allah will help him restore Islam in Muslim world right before final major signs. To be honest it is probably Allah proving to mankind how he can change conditions on earth and raise a righteous peoples out of a time where it seems impossible.

Basically once it becomes apparent that the scholars and Ummah agreed on him, and the conditions were met. At that point we have to follow. If we just decide not to for rest of our lives even thought conditions are met then yeah it becomes a problem there.

I am not sure about Mahdi and its coming and its reference from Quran e Hakeem as i am no absolute authority in it, Let Allah be the best Judge and guide. But you want us to believe these ULAMA or Intellectuals of Islamic thought to recognize Mahdi for us? Those same Ulama that have pushed us back to dark ages in this modern age and stopped us from getting ahead of the world?
Look at the Muslim world, where ever these so called ULAMA have any influence, Poverty Illiteracy and narrow mindedness rules. Look at other Nations of the worlds. Russians, Europeans, Chinese, Japanese and Koreans, Malays and Singapore,North Americans. Now even Latin Americans are getting ahead. And look at Muslim world. Even the best of Muslim countries are just following the Trail of USA nothing more. I wont put my trust on them for something such important. They know nothing but hate and fasaad, they fight with everyone.
Even the Ulama with sane approach and peaceful progressive approach are hated and scorned by the plethora of traditional Extremists Ulama which are in majority
