If a dog is stoned, don't blame the Centre, says Union Minister VK Singh on killing of two Dalit chi

Dog comment: My statement twisted out of context, says Union Minister VK Singh | Zee News

Delhi: Union Minister VK Singh on Thursday kicked up a huge political row when he tried to shield the government from blame in the Faridabad Dalit burning incident, saying the "government cannot be held responsible if somebody stones a dog".

The dog analogy provoked demands for his ouster by the Opposition, which sought registration of a criminal case against him under the Scheduled Castes Prevention of Atrocities Act, and drew parallels with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "puppy" remark made with referrence to Gujarat riots which was construed as directed against the Muslims.

"See, the thing is, never associate local incidents with the Central government (sarkar). There is an inquiry going on. There was a dispute between families. The dispute...How did it turn out.Where did the administration fail, after these it come to the Centre,” Singh said.

"For everything, like if somebody throws a stone at a dog, then the government is responsible...It is not like that," Singh added in Ghaziabad, the constituency he represents in Parliament, while referring to the burning alive of a Dalit family allegedly by upper caste Rajputs in Haryana's Faridabad which left two toddlers dead on the intervening night of October 19-20.

However, Singh later clarified that his statement had been twisted out out context.

He posted on micro-blogging site Twitter: “My statement wasn't intended to draw an analogy. My men and I put our lives on the line for the nation irrespective of caste, creed and religion. I standby to serve India with the same spirit, right now and always. Our nation, its success and its people motivate me daily.”

In another post he wrote: “As citizens of this great nation we are sensitive but also responsible. Agenda of India is bigger than any single neighborhood or individual. We must stand united and let no one exploit our diversity by blowing up localized issues.”

Singh also later, in a statement described, as per PTI, as 'dastardly and cowardly act' the killing of two little children in Faridabad 'which is a shocking reflection on the state of our society'.

"It does not matter who or what the political affiliations are, the perpetrators have to be dealt with without mercy. I also appeal to the media not to deliberately twist my words out of context. What I have said and continue to say is very clear, and there is no ambiguity about it," he added.

Do all Indian ministers have diarrhea of the mouth.

when you come up with clarification, you clarify what u said earlier...really nothing more to it.,

The very fact that he had to come up with a clarification is the proof that he does not know how to communicate and use the media to his advantage.

Under the circumstances he should learn to keep quite till he masters the art. Not provide more ammunition to be used against Modi.

As a General he is expected to know how guerilla warfare works. Use the enemies weapon against him.

Media will twist anything into anything , need to stop giving so much importance to media. They are irrelevant..

Yes Media will do that ....... and the media contributes to formation of public opinion. Any ammunition you give them is additional firepower Modi will have to face.

So the least he could do is not give them any ammunition.

I have seen the statement he made on TV.

At no place did he try to draw a parallel between a dalit being burnt & a dog being stoned.

He is correct, its the states job to ensure law & order. The Center cannot be blamed for incidents which state Govts are well equipped to handle.
Who is blaming center... Modi g came and asked votes in Haryana for his vision...

BJP slogan was ab ki baar modi sarkar... kendra aur rajye mei ek he sarkar...

people are blaming the govt, who rule the state and the person who was said to be the brand ambassador .. y ex General is losing his cool and taking it to center...

Media does not contribute to public opinion, not for last 5-6 years.

But,what about Mr.Ekhlaq's murder which took place in Dadri which is a part of U.P.,a state that has been run by the S.P. for the last 4 years!!Media also put the blame of that incident on BJP,the same thing happened in case of Mr.Kalburgi's murder too. Here also the state is being ruled by the Congree Govt. but instead of pointing fingers at them the pressitutes started blaming our Hon'able P.M.Modi for that incident. The same goes with the H.P. lynching case.
The media is waging a blatant war against the NDA regime at the center on behalf of the Nehru-Gandhi family and unfortunately our countrymen are falling for their traps. Some body(personally i hate that man because of being an arsehole) rightly said that 90% of the Indian citizens are born idiots:coffee:!!

Negative publicity is as important as positive publicity .......... it keeps you in the news. Keeps you relevant and in public memory.

They tried their best in 2012 to make congress win last UP elections by glamorizing congress and Rahul Gandhi, they failed horribly....

He is dousing media fire by playing on Army sentiment and patriotism. Last refuge of the ................

Still better than not dousing the fire during Bihar elections.
