Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal assures all out cooperation for IDEAS 2008

Nazim Karachi, Syed Mustafa Kamal, has said that holding of 5th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar on IDEAS-2008, is an honour for the people of Karachi and this would uplift the image of Pakistan, especially Karachi as a peaceful city.
Mustafa Kamal said that there would be no need to make emergency arrangements for the IDEAS because of the fast track development that was carried out here during the last two- and-a-half years.
He stated this while addressing a meeting at Expo Centre held to review the arrangements for the forthcoming Defence Exhibition. The meeting was also attended by DG Defence Export Promotion Organisation (DEPO) Major General Mohammed Farooq, DCO Karachi Javed Hanif and other officials.
The Nazim pointed out that all the roads have been constructed anew while beautification and plantation work was in progress and the visitors to the exhibition will have a look of a changed Karachi having a positive environment.
He said that the CDGK would play a vigorous role in connection with the arrangements for IDEAS. However, emergency arrangements would not be required as city government has already constructed two signal-free corridors, eight flyovers and six under-passes besides other important roads which leads to Expo Centre.
Moreover, he informed that the city government will establish a beautiful "food court" at Hasan Square for which resources and space have been made available while the city government will also help in providing parking facilities. Mustafa Kamal said the traffic control would be facilitated from city government's command and control system to which all roads adjacent to Expo centre are linked.
Furthermore, he suggested that cultural shows for visiting guests should be organised nearer to Expo Centre. He told the meeting that renovation work of Sharea Faisal, Stadium road, Ibrahim Rehmatoola road, MT Khan road, Jinnah Bridge to Dockyard road, Gulbai, West Wharf, Mauripur road is being taken up while these roads have already been reconstructed. On the occasion he appointed EDO Municipal Services as focal person of City government.
DG DEPO Major General Mohammed Farooq thanked Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal on his offer of co-operation and said the best possible arrangements would be made through joint efforts so that local and international participants could carry with them a good impression about Karachi.
He pointed out that this exhibition plays a key role in the promotion of defence equipment manufactured at national level and their export. General Farooq said a large number of buyers gather here on the occasion from world over as a result of which the exhibition greatly contributes to the development of national economy.
