What's new

I t is time to pronounce the Trans-Pacific Partnership clinically dead.

the smuglers controled black market to import fake products from China only, that why she is not trusted partner in trading here..

fish sauce from Phan Thiet and Phu quoc is dominated in Vietnam.

No I'm talking about historically. The Hoa community controlled a huge percentage of trade and commerce, similar to the rest of Southeast Asia. But the Vietnamese gov seized their assets and used them as scapegoats for Vietnam's condition.

After Doi Moi (Vietnamese version of the Chinese economic reform), the Hoa are back again. In Ho Chi Minh city they control 50% of the cities commerce and trade, apparently.

chinese has altitude to fabricating every thing. Fish sauce is invented by Vietnamese.

Fish sauce is characteristic of southeast Asian cuisines like Thailand Cambodia Philippines Laos Vietnam. Soy sauce is characteristic of East Asian cuisines like China Japan and Korea. Although I think some locales in those countries also have their own versions of fish sauce. But certainly fish sauce is dominant in Southeast Asia, soy sauce is dominant in East Asia.

Even today Hao is still dominant in Vietnam, without Hao connection to the Chinese world (realm), you think Vietnamese will able to sell rice or fish souce into Chinese store or market, we probably buy its from Thailand or Cambodia.

I read that the Huy Fong Sriracha sauce founder is a Hoa man. You know that rooster sauce thing? Personally I don't like it. I liked it first, but my tastebuds have changed over the years or something.

These Viets still don't get it, without Hao connection into Chinese commerce realm, their product will be hard to sell, most commerce stores around the world that sold south east Asia products are Chinese as owner.

I think you might be right. Okay the Rooster Sauce (Huy Fong Foods, inc) founder is actually ethnic Chinese. His name is David Tran. But I think that doesn't count as a Southeast Asian product but more of an Asian American product because they operate in America (?).

Anyway I thought it was Vietnamese at first because of the text on it and it doesn't taste typical of Chinese flavours. But then I thought hang on a minute Sriracha doesn't sound Vietnamese. So then I found out it was Thai. But then I just decided to look up the founder and it turned out he was ethnic Chinese. That's when I thought "excellent, dawg".

Laos Cambodia, Thai and Vietnam, all ethnic Chinese there form a commerce connection to Honk Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and China as vast network for exchange and distribution of Asia's good, even Japanese are trying hard to be part of this Chinese commercial realm and they have very success to sell their rice cooking and other home appliance such as thermos., if you go to Chinese store in US or France, you can even find these Japanese products there.

Hoa ethnic people is not dominant now in Vietnam, as I have proved many times. Ethnic Hoa is now behind ethnic Viet, especially North Vietnamese, in every aspects, including education, economy and science. Their status are just marginally better than other minorities in Vietnam. In 2014, some southern universities even had to give ethnic Hoa students bonus for entrance exams, i.e. same special treatment given to other minorities, given that the education level of ethnic Hoa were low compared to ethnic Kinh.

In the economy area, all big business, either private or state-owned, in technology or real estate, are dominant by North Vietnamese.

A visit to Hoa quarter in District 6, HCM city in 2014 has opened my eyes about low standard of living of ethnic Hoa, compared to ethnic Viet in the South of Vietnam.

The Hoa were persecuted by the Vietnamese. I think they have a history of oppression and resentment in Vietnam, similar to Jews in Europe? Most of the Vietnamese boat people were ethnic Hoa.

The Jing community (ethnic Vietnamese in China) aren't successful by any means by the way. They were never persecuted. Also they were never prominent in China whether that be trade education economics finance commerce etc.

Wrong

The Hoa had the chance to get Vietnamese citizenship but they refused. They rather wanted to return to Chinese communist paradise. Thanks to brainwashing efforts of Ccp.

They fled to Vietnam throughout centuries because of persecution in China. As merchants they were treated as low class citizens.

Many of Hoa returned to Vietnam when Vietnam-China relationship normalized.

Why don't you come to America Australia Canada Europe visiting Vietnamese communities and check out how many Hoa people are?

But they didn't go to China, most ended up in Hong Kong, Macau, USA etc?

I read that Lee Kuan Yew the Singaporean PM once wanted Singapore to be like Saigon before Singapore became rich. But that was before the Fall of Saigon.

I don't know about Science & education butd economy, averagely Hao still better than Vietnamese and Wealthier. Sure Politic, Military and National economy are dominated by Vietnamese.

Also @Viet I have a question.

You know like in these "Vietnamese" things or places and they put Chinese characters on there does it mean it's Hoa? Like you know in some pho shops I think they slap Chinese characters over everything to give it more of an "East Asian" and "exotic Asian" feel to it. So is that indicative of a Hoa place or not?

And yes I'm aware about Chu Nom and Han Tu but most Vietnamese can't read it

We were treated as low class citizens?:o: Chinese merchants were bosses and employed Vietnameses as slave labor with corrupted Vietnamese government approval...before communist Hao formed an elite society dominated Vietnamese economy...LMAO you're so funny that like to twiste the fact and reality.

check the stat

many Hoa returned to main China, as well as HK and Macao.

only Vietnamese having connections to former ROV government or America got free pass to America.

sure, Vietnam had seen better times, more powerful and more prosperous. when Hanoi was a modern city with paved roads, Singapore or Jakarta was nothing than swampland. also, Saigon was tittled as Paris of the East.
