I don't believe in Democracy.

@Oscar

Can you name any of these modern scholars you talk of? And what is the application of Shariah? Do tell.

It gave guidelines for laws and social practices within whatever society which can be moulded and adapted to incorporate and assimilate the local culture/ traditions and wishes of the people whilst maintaining a focus on removing social injustices and evil.
Is that it? Please name these Islamic scholars who agree with this application of Shariah.

Go start with anyone except those retweeted for starters.. for a tafseer lets say go beyond Ibn Kathir.. or anyone you like..as for modern scholars, try picking someone who lived in the 20th century to the least and held a well documented prominent position; not just some rising rockstar type.. .how about someone like Martin lings for the life of the Prophet or anyone you like? The idea is to read more of the Quran & Hadiath and Seerat before blindly accepting.

Then also read on Maudoodi, and Ibn abd al wahab, then many of the "ulema" in the Islamic ideology council, get their views too.

As for Shariat, if you ask for the what's.. the Quran exists; the most verified Hadiath exist.. It is the How's that matter, the foundations of which begin with the Prophet's life and how he applied the teachings of the Quran, to Hazrat Abu Bakr.. all the way to Imam Shafi'i.. and so on. They looked at what issue is at hand, if and what the Quran teaches and what the prophet did or said in similar situations, and based upon the existence and lack therof; THE MOST LEARNED(not just in Quran and Sunnah) make a collective decision on how to act on it. It was an evolutionary process that was designed to continue rather than become static or dogmatic as it has.

So when you ask me on the application of Shariat, it is a question of how I apply it in my life.. and then how I make common ground in my community to implement what we believe is correct. In all of this, it has to be based on informed decision and not just because a man has been at the pulpit and has picked up incomplete knowledge; and now sits at some council or leads a group which two of your friends and three cousins say is ok so you do too.

In truth democracy has no value.

USA wants democracy in Pakistan instead of a military rule. But check the response of USA and the world regarding military take over and rule in Egypt.

World leaders, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and UK Prime Minister David Cameron, joined in praising the revolution.

U.S. President Barack Obama praised the achievement of the Egyptian people and encouraged other activists, saying "Let's look at Egypt's example".

Amid growing concern for the country, David Cameron was the first world leader to visit Egypt (10 days after Mubarak's resignation). A news blackout was lifted as the prime minister landed in Cairo for a brief five-hour stopover, hastily added to the beginning of a planned tour of the Middle East.

On 15 March, United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton visited Egypt; she was the highest-ranking U.S. official to visit the country since the handover of power from Mubarak to the military. Clinton urged military leaders to begin the process of a democratic transition, offering support to protesters and reaffirming ties between the two nations.

God forbid if Pakistan gets a military rule and revolutions, Pakistan will be hit by sanctions and embargo.

I'm a 100% sure that the last 3 are photoshopped, It's like they didn't even try. But the first one might be real, I'm not entirely sure.

But as a Muslim I feel like Democracy has the most in common with islam.

“Democracy is in the blood of the Muslims, who look upon complete equality of mankind, and believe in fraternity, equality, and liberty.”
