I can answer questions about China and help you understand our country

Great thread!

What, in your opinion, is the biggest threat to China's internal stability? If one were to believe hawks in the US/West in general it would seem like China is just waiting for a single mass event that will overthrow the CCP and Chinese people will fill the streets. Basically the question is, what is CCP's biggest worry?
Have you ever thought about why Hong Kong rioters attacked mainlanders? Why don't they incite mainlanders to attack the CCP government? Because they understand that mainlanders will not be incited at all, and they will not do meaningless things.

Have you ever thought about why the CCP government's administrative efficiency is so high? It is impossible to achieve such efficiency without the general support of the people.

The support rate of the CCP government has reached 97%, which is obtained from the survey of American companies. American companies will not lie for the CCP government.

The CCP government is not worried about domestic stability. The Chinese people hate instability more than the government. Almost everyone in China knows history. Through history, they understand that China cannot be defeated by external forces, but will die in the civil war. We will not give foreign forces any chance.

Arab spring, in February 2011, US ambassador to China Jon Huntsman went to Wangfujing, Beijing to incite the Chinese people, but was besieged by the angry Chinese people. Finally, he relied on the help of the Chinese police to escape the siege. In March 2011, the USA replaced the stupid American ambassador(Pay attention to the clothes of the American ambassador. He wore Captain America's clothes to incite the Chinese. He began to want to be the captain America. After discovering that he found he misjudged the Chinese, he stammered for mercy to the people around him. and cried to the Chinese police for help. Finally, he became a celebrity teased on the Chinese Internet. One month later, the US government changed its ambassador. This is a typical American who misjudges his opponent, overestimates himself, and is timid when he meets difficulties).

Since then, the CIA almost gave up inciting the Han people, and their work in China was transferred to Xinjiang. In 2014, terrorists attacked Kunming. The CCP government sent Zhang Chunxian to Xinjiang to eliminate terrorists. In 2017, Xinjiang completely eliminated terrorists. The CIA's work in China was transferred to Hong Kong.
Now the chaos in Hong Kong is coming to an end.

Yes it does appear to be the case. But then appearances are often deceptive. Scratch the surface the stench and puss oozes out. I could go into details but then we are incapable of honest discourse here at PDF and so I resist. But then that‘s always been my point, be it FLG or CCP or as you say the US system - nothing is infallible. There are practical limitations of all ideas conceived by the human mind. Homelessness and COVID is all the result of a system that cannot force people to get vaccinated or even accept psychiatric help when their minds are broken. In the US, the state isn‘t going to hold your hand and keep all troubles away. Us Americans have designed a system with a minimalistic government and accept the associated consequence. While the Chinese appear to prefer an Invasive government. One isn’t better than the other .

The Chinese believe that too much freedom will give the strong the opportunity to bully the weak. Although the United States is free, We don't recognize it as a democratic country.

The United States is a country where the winner is the king, and the United States is a country where capital does whatever it wants. True democracy should be alert to the behavior of the strong and protect the weak.
Like a group of free monkeys, powerful monkeys will be free to become the king of monkey, but this is not democracy. Protecting all monkeys, big and small, is the real democracy.

Chinese are different from Americans. We are not an immigrant country.
We have the same ancestor. We have the same language and culture, so we have the tradition of unity and collectivism. So we are more willing to sacrifice our own interests to protect our compatriots (During the conflict in gallewan Valley, our soldier Wang zhuolan and three soldiers fell into the river. Wang zhuolan pushed three comrades ashore, but he drowned because he exhausted his strength. And India was defeated, they all fled regardless of their comrades in arms who fell into the river. As a result, 17 Indian were frozen to death and 10 were captured, including 3 commanders).

And Americans believe more in their power. We are different.
Your movies prefer superheroes to save the earth. Our movies($730 million box office movie: The Wandering Earth) will be all humans cooperate to escape with the earth. We advocate a community of human interests, and you advocate American priority.

I recommend you to see these two films. It obviously show what kind of people are Chinese heroes, and what kind of people are American heroes.

$730 million box office movie: The Wandering Earth

$719 million box office movie: Captain America 2

There are only two mainstream ideologies that can exist in China: nationalism and communism. So the only threat within China to the CPC is nationalism. And the CPC is the only force that can suppress nationalism. Contrary to western propaganda, the CPC is definitely dovish in China. So any time you stir up nationalism in China, it will cause great trouble for the CPC. But I don't think any country really wants to stir up Chinese nationalism. Considering China's current strength, this would be suicide.

Muslims were given preferential treatment.
The United States spread rumors about Uighurs in Xinjiang. In fact, in 1990, there were 1.14 billion people in China, including 7.2 million Uighurs. In 2020, there were 1.41 billion people in China, including 12 million Uighurs. China's population increased by 23.7%, including the Uighur population increased by 66.7%.

Think about it. Without the support of the Uighur people, the Chinese government could not completely eliminate the terrorists in Xinjiang in only three years. If the rumor is true, the Uighur people will not support the government's action.

BTW: Almost all terrorists were arrested because they were reported by Uighurs. the Uighur people want a prosperous and stable life, these terrorists don't want to.

Thanks brother.

Your argument is typical from an American POV. I do not blame you. They will argue all about their "Democratic" institutions, the check and balance, the ability to vote out an administration etc. And once you have these institutions in place than you will have prosperity.
They been hawking this to the USSR ever since USSR collapsed.

Talk about the process by all means but do not ignore the end results.

The West has a proverb. "The proof is in the pudding".
For China, "The cat that catches the mouse is a good cat. It does not matter if its black or white".

In China the results drives the process.

You have to be an atheist to join the CPC. So, of course, is XI. The CPC does not censor your previous ethnicity and religion. But once you join the CPC, you only have one belief - communism. China has been atheist for thousands of years. No one cares what you believe as long as religion doesn't interfere with the secular world. As an individual, you are free to believe what you want. But no religion can try to be a political force.

I'm confused. so a communist party member can have a personal religion he or she follows in an individual capacity or not?

No, once you become a Communist, you have to give up other beliefs.

If your goal is just to go into politics, you can choose another political party or even become an independent. Of course, you will never reach XI's position. Your upper limit is vice premier of The State Council, or vice speaker of parliament. Second only to XI.

One more thing, XI has the highest rank in the government, but there are 7 or 8 people in the highest rank, I forget the exact number. However, XI ranks the highest in CPC, and he is the only one. His power derives from the support of others of his rank.

What redtom said is incorrect. People with faith can join the Communist Party. For example, Uighurs have 1.1 million Communists and Hui have 1.4 million Communists. They are all Muslims. However, it is forbidden for Communists to organize religious activities and publicize religion. They can only participate in activities as ordinary believers.
Communists: it is forbidden to do business, accept gifts and entertain with public funds.

Except that the 7 most senior officials must be Communists, all other officials can be people of other parties and non parties. At least one vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee is a Muslim.

If you want to go into politics, you don't have to be a communist. If you become a Chinese communist, it doesn't mean you will have preferential treatment, even it means sacrifice. In the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, the army needed 15 paratroopers to parachute under the conditions of night, rainstorm and lightning to restore contact with the disaster area. Theoretically, parachuting under this condition had a mortality rate of 30%, and Fifteen Chinese Communist volunteered to take part in the operation; In 2020, 42000 doctors volunteered to go to Wuhan for treatment of COVID19, of which 83% were Chinese Communists; In August 2021, City wide nucleic acid detection was carried out in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province (my hometown). All Chinese Communist Party members were required to wear protective clothing and help medical personnel free of charge.

Xi Jinping is the highest ranking official, but his status is equal to the other six. The Communist Party of China adopts a democratic centralized system. If major issues such as personnel and resource allocation are involved, the Party committee at the same level must vote. Xi Jinping and the other six members of the supreme Party committee have only one vote.
Of course, this is only a theoretical situation. After all, I'm not one of the top7, and I don't know the truth.

Hello @MH.Yang and thank you for opening this thread.
I would like to know what are the views of average Chinese on liberal democracy and since so many Chinese have lived in West, do they try to bring back their culture or values in China?
Thanks

If you have any questions about China, you can ask me and I will try my best to answer them.

Once in a while you hear about somebody being rescued stuck in window bars...and sometimes they are up very very high.
Screen Shot 2021-08-12 at 10.58.36 AM.jpg

Are the bars you see over windows/balconies mainly for:

1) prevention of being included in a large falling object liability handed to a building due to an incident. Although the spacing of the above bars isn't that narrow and they seem overly strong for that.
2) prevention of suicides
3) prevention of break-ins

I was born in Hong Kong and moved to Canada when I was 5. In my twenty odd years, even for such a “friendly” country I’ve seen and experienced racial jokes and stereotypes about Chinese people. Propaganda and fake news has most people brainwashed that China is a nation with no respect for human rights, a poor state where people starve to death. I was in class once watching a war movie, the main character eats a cockroach to stay alive. The class expresses its disgust and a white kid says, “why is that gross to you, don’t you Chinese people eat anything?” Till this day, he’s still a loser. Most common jokes were Nike sweatshops and child labor. No MSM ever discusses about the rapid reforms China made in the legal sector, how it lifted half the nation out of poverty, how China can became a world power without starting wars everywhere.

If you’ve taken the time to absorb Western culture, you’ll know it’s full of shit. Democracy means nothing ever gets done the way it should be done. The system is designed to protect the privileged few. What we see is a broken system, a system that relies on war profiteering to stay ahead. A system that promotes fear and hatred, while China is making friends and building a better future for everyone. I’m not saying that China is perfect or does this out of pure altruistic motives, but the international community seems more than happy to be a part of this growth.

It’s not that I hate the West, I’ve just seen its true colors. I moved back to China where I believe the opportunities are, and I don’t want to feel like a second class citizen. Personally, growing up in the West made me more aware of who I am. Unlike people in Hong Kong now, that wish they were white, there’s never been a time in history where we could be more proud to be Chinese. It’s motivated me to learn more about my own culture. It wasn’t so long ago when we were oppressed and everyone wanted to slice us open. Now we are a nation that can stand strong again, and knowing how we got here and where we will be going, that’s why we’re more nationalistic. The West promotes an individual’s (most likely futile) pursuit of happiness and wealth (ironically more like modern day slavery). China promotes the community, and it has sacrificed generations to help us get here. To not be nationalistic, wherever you may be situated, would be spitting on their graves.
Answer to Why do many Chinese people become much more patriotic and defensive about China after living in the West?
