Mughaljee,
You brought it up----that is why I am responding-----.
God Bless you on your endeavour---but if it was me---I would rather give that money to a poor family and help them establish a business---and the next time I have that money for hajj---I would do it over and over and over---.
Well off pakistanis don't deserve to spend money on hajj----when their poorest are living in misery----you can perform hajj a thousand times over by making their lives better.
Can some one find out---how much do pakistanis spend / waste on hajj each year that could have been better used to establish the welfare of the poverty stricken poor of the country---.
The Hajj (Arabic: حج‎ Ḥaǧǧ "pilgrimage") is the pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It is the largest pilgrimage in the world, and is the fifth pillar of Islam, a religious duty that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so. The Hajj is a demonstration of the solidarity of the Muslim people, and their submission to God (Allah in the Arabic language).[1]

But unfortunately we apply double standards. Money spent on holy pilgrimage once in your life is a waste ( I didn't like that word) but money we spend and waste everyday on useless things we don't need is necessary.

A reasonable thought that has cross my mind many times but I do see a problem with it. You see hajj once in your life time is essential/farz for a financially stable Muslim.
Reason that why spend money on Hajj when it can be used to help out the poor then needs be applied to every social aspect of our lives. With that reason, any money you spend on your personal luxuries and pleasures need to also be diverted to the poor and the needy. You don't need a car, a big house, expensive clothes to live a decent life. You have to become totally selfless.
But unfortunately we apply double standards. Money spent on holy pilgrimage once in your life is a waste ( I didn't like that word) but money we spend and waste everyday on useless things we don't need is necessary.
Best wishes and prayers to mughaljee on his hajj pilgrim, Allah apka safar aur hajj qabol farmaye.
