Livefist - Indian Defence & Aerospace: Hunt For 6th Generation Fighter Begins Today

f21stv.jpg

The hunt for a sixth generation fighter plane officially began today at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. An office of the US defence establishment (Aeronautical System Center) today put out a capability request for information (CRFI) calling for concepts before December 17 to support a Capability Based Assessment (CBA) on a next generation tactical aircraft that can achieve initial operational capability by 2030. The request is being seen as the first step towards a replacement for the only operational 5th-gen fighter today -- the F-22 Raptor.

The CRFI [doc] puts down that the primary mission in the future Next Gen TACAIR definition is Offensive and Defensive Counterair to include subset missions including Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), Close Air Support (CAS) and Air Interdiction (AI). It may also fulfill airborne electronic attack and intelligence-surveillance-reconnaissance capabilities... The future system will have to counter adversaries equipped with next generation advanced electronic attack, sophisticated integrated air defense systems, passive detection, integrated self-protection, directed energy weapons, and cyber attack capabilities. It must be able to operate in the anti-access/area-denial environment that will exist in the 2030-2050 timeframe.

Some of the technologies the US gov wants to know more about include non-kinetic weapons, secondary power generation, heat rejection and optionally manned systems.

WOW... The F-22 has only been in service for five years and they already want to develop its replacement. The U.S knows that there is nobody on this planet who can challenge them yet what is the need to spend so much money on weapons

Ill give it another 15-25 years, around the time the US will get rid of it's F-18SH.

Sixth gen fighters don't exist yet, even countries like the US are still working on fifth gen fighters.

Haha,

they actually don't have money. It's funny how they still printing money and pouring on stuff they no longer need.

.
thing is they are too big to fail,
China cannot take all the money to the market because its saving will be wiped out, so will be its market, so even though they are not friendly they will prefer status quo

Oh boi.. Like them or hate them, you got to give it to the Americans ... their quest for global superiority never ends. This thirst for supremacy is what makes them participate in all wars--to test each new weapon they design and develop each time (HUMVEEs were taken off and replaced with Strykers in Afghanistan and Iraq and they proved to be DEADLY). And each 'withdrawal' of theirs simply means that the weapon's shortcomings are discovered, fixed and upgraded and they've achieved their strategic objective which is usually either installing a puppet government or signing such a deal that ensures a massive supply of some resource to US for as long as it lasts.

No wonder they've such a humungous R&D for defence. Every war becomes their war because of their quest to discover, test, experiment, improve and enhance so that they're 10 steps ahead of rest of the world. I am seriously impressed with Jewish brains (who control most hi-tech industries in US).

Original F-22 technologies were developed in early 90s after that 15 years have gone. I think secretly US have done lots of works on newer technology. I will not be surprised if they have already developed something like F-117 or B-2. F-117 was revealed years after it became operational.

Bring some of those 6th gens home guys...In the mean time,I should inform you that the mango tree in my backyard bore its first fruit this summer.
I think I have mentioned before that I planted it the year I first heard about those 126 jets deal.......:frown::frown:

When the U-2 was being inducted.. its replacement was already on the drawing board.. this is how the US military works. They plan ahead.. way way ahead.
