Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou reaches agreement with US to resolve fraud charges

LOL. Apparently everybody else think it was very minor.

Judge Parker apologized to Dr. Lee for the unfair manner in which he was treated. The judge also regretted being misled by the executive branch into ordering Dr. Lee's detention, stating that he was led astray by the Department of Justice, by its FBI, and by its United States attorney. He formally denounced the government for abuse of power in its prosecution of the case.[20][21][22] Later, President Bill Clinton remarked that he had been "troubled" by the way Dr. Lee was treated.

He plead GUILTY to downloading 250,000 pages or more of nuclear weapons information from a classified computer and then smuggled the magnetic tapes of data out of Los Alamos National Laboratories.

The investigation found no evidence he actually shared it with a foreign country. He still was found guilty.
Again if this was China he would have been shot right between the eyes on the spot with no trial or investigation. Instead of doing that the US threw him in a solitary cell for months while they investigated.

Apparently this was quite common. He was singled out because he was Chinese.

Quote
As evidence of such racial profiling, he cited cases of several scientists of non-Han Chinese ancestry who were responsible for similar security transgressions but were able to continue their careers.

I worked with Pakistani-Americans who showed me this Pakistani-American run defense site started by a teen in Indianapolis, Indiana, US.

So what's your ridiculously weak obsession excuse for a Chinese person visiting this US site (yes, it is a US site..BIG HINT: It's in English not Urdu) on the other side of the planet banned by the Great Firewall thus requiring all the Chinese members here to use a Chinese Government specially authorized VPN? WTF!!!!

View attachment 780174

It's obvious you are all being paid by your government to post on US-based forum sites. You don't see any American PDF members posting in defense forums in China. :cuckoo:

Don't make us all laugh by saying your Pakistani-American co-workers pointed you to it. More like the CCP assigned it to you. You probably have never even met anybody from Pakistan in your entire life.
normal viewer comes and goes, whenever I come back to PDF you and your buddy @F22Raptor always seem to be here. That's kinda sus.

only thing people can be this attentive to is their jobs

I'm not like you and have to jump through ridiculous elaborate VPN hoops just to go visit an english speaking US based site and then ask US members why the hell they are there...WTF?

This is not an Urdu language based forum in Pakistan viewed daily by the local 200+ million population. You guys are crashing the wrong forum if you think it is.

only thing people can be this attentive to is their jobs

Considering some Chinese members here open over 20 new threads daily for YEARS through a CCP authorized VPN it is quite obvious which jobs they have.

Why aren't you"wondering" about them first? Go look who are the top posters on this site...it isn't me or F-22. They even switch to multiple accounts when PDF bans them for an infraction just to continue..which according to an ongoing chat...isn't making PDF management happy at all:

Some posters are certainly raising PDF eyebrows...and it's not the US ones.

She did not plead guilty. If she did, she would have been extradited. End of story.
The whole process hasn't even reached to the step of plea hearing, which is a part of court hearing. It was ended while it was in the extradition hearing, which doesn't involve plea hearing. So, there was nothing to plead at all. End of story.

I am not a lawyer, but I think you do not hold a CFO hostage. Period. You file charges against the company which in this case is Huawei.

The 2 main charges are wire fraud and lying to HSBC

According to US, they will drop charges against Meng WanZhou but will later consider charging Huawei.

Does this sounds like US is using a convoluted way back to the correct path of charging the company, Huawei ?

Even if so, new evidence have already emerged that HSBC upper management knew about the Iran deal. So how is Huawei lying if HSBC already knew of the Iran deal ?

And if HSBC transfer money and knew about the Iran deal then shouldn't HSBC be charge for wire fraud ?

So how will it work out now. Can somebody enlighten me ?

Thank you.

Regardless of charging a person or a company, in a criminal case, the court battle has to be fought by persons. If you charge a company but the court cannot bring relevant persons to the court, the case might even be thrown out. It seems to me that charging a person makes more sense since crimes are committed by persons and criminal sentence can only be laid upon persons. Nobody can sentence a company for a number of years. Just remember, this is a criminal case, not a civil case.

The next CFO who thinks of making false statements about transactions in USD will certainly think twice before doing so. That is the point.

So US basically chickened out, had it been French or Indian, they would have bended over to get shafted, that's the difference between dogs and sovereign powers.

The next Canadian thinking of becoming a lapdog will think twice. Hahaha

So? China is openly buying Venezuelan and Iranian oil, wtf can you do? This is an obvious kowtow to China. BIDEN needs us to maintain Dollar stability. People are gong to transact in digital yuan soon.

Wells Fargo account fraud scandal

The company was fined $185 million dollars. Nobody was detained.

@Hamartia Antidote is the same person as @FuturePAF.
I am wondering why the hatred against China while hailing from Pakistan?

I am Pakistani but also an American. So I had to do a double take when you made this assertion.
@Hamartia Antidote the line from Shakespeare’s twelfth night came to mind “How have you made division of yourself” ;)

We in the diaspora have a unique viewpoint, especially 1st generation immigrants. Loyal to both the country of our birth and the country which we also call Home. As an American, I will cheer on team USA at international sporting events, and support the good the US does around the world. But also he heartbroken of all the bad that is done in its name.

I don’t hate China. Many things I admire, in a similar way I admire Germany, as both are very industrious and have rebuilt themselves after periods of severe devastation.

China is a strategic partner of Pakistan, but I want Pakistan to be as hard working and realistic in its dealing with China because when Pakistani leaders negotiate poorly, and don’t do their part of the hard work, things can fall apart and relations can become strained. China should be understood and its culture respected, especially its business culture.

The problem is their entire country (China) has a "conform mentality" burnt into their brains (like a certain Star Trek nemesis). When they come across people who don't conform these people standout like an elephant in the middle of a sheep herd. If two elephants are seen they start thinking it must be a conspiracy as this MUST BE a double unlikelyhood.

If chinese dislike the West they can return to the communist motherland.
Meng can give up her mansions.
Why not, if cheap enough with discount I am willing to buy it. She will be released from her burden in Canada.
