After a house owner was brutally murdered for opposing her married tenant’s illicit affair with a Muslim man last month, this month a Chennai techie’s bike has been torched by his sister’s stalker. Dasthagir Batcha, a 30-year-old butcher in the neighborhood of Ayanavaram, Chennai claimed to be an IT professional to befriend a 24-year woman working as a software professional. Batcha is alleged to have professed his love for the girl and asked her to marry him. However, the girl severed ties with him after coming to know of the truth.

But Batcha continued to stalk and harass her saying that he loves her. So the girl’s brother Sathish Kumar, who is also a techie, filed a complaint with the Ayanavaram police. Batcha was summoned to the police station based on the complaint and let off with a warning.

Incensed by this, Batcha went to the girl’s house in an inebriated condition and torched Sathish Kumar’s Royal Enfield bike. As luck would have it, the family noticed the smoke and put it out. They also caught Batcha and handed him over to the police.

The case you quoted ( if it happened, coming as it is from OpIndia ), it was a case of criminality and brutality. But it is only you, HJM and OpIndia who are giving it religious overtones since it involved a Muslim criminal.

Clearly we have different standards.

Mine is to sympathize with the victim and stand with all those who helped her, yours is to stand with the criminal due to their religious affiliation.
