well the most important hing is that the riots should have never happened in the first place. The police should have caught the culprits, put them on trial and given the maximum punishment.

In India, the state apparatus is weak, and Gujarat already had a history of riots before this. The incident like a match stick thrown at a powder keg.

But, it still doesn't excuse what happened there.

Taking another Human life is against the law, and against Morality, no matter how right you think you are in comitting mass murder.

That is the difference where rule of law is followed and where it is not.

RSS has a ultra nationalist & hindu supremacist worldview. In a world where India is the center of the unverse (well that itself is not so bad many ordinary nationalists believe that)
India is primarily for hindus and hinduism by definition is welcoming to other religions.
Which means we can be a hindu country and still have people of other religion with equal rights. (note parallel with islamists here)

RSS view about women are traditional, women should be primarily homemaker, they should focus on having healthy babies, should wear Indian dress only...

In 1000s of sakhas in length and breadth of the country, RSS has mass contact program with ordinary Indians. RSS ideology is drilled in by repeated visit to sakhas, and most people wont even know it when they started hating muslim and christians.
1000s or RSS pracharaks live ascetic life which is different from all round corruption in India, and lot of people find them honest and trustworthy. They also read/digest/regurgitate RSS ideology 24/7. Very few of them look or behave like fanatics. But then fanaticism is in ideology (action is usually job of bajrang dal and the likes which makes RSS unbannable)
Lot of such ultra nationalists hate islamic extremism, but fail to see the similarity between them.

disclaimer: I was in RSS as a kid. Some of it might be personal experience(and its interpretation when I became older and wiser ) and not official position of RSS. Even then some of the utterances of RSS head are crazier than what Mamta banarjee says...

Should you be interested, I can post you what Modi and a few others have to say about the incident. Learn from both sides of the narrative and form your own opinions instead of sticking to one biased person's views simply because he/she says what you'd like to hear.

But concerning other things, especially the Maoist issue, she is nothing more than a hypocrite. Whenever maoists get hunted down she runs around in other countries (nobody gives a s*** about her in India, except the communists) and starts blaming the GOI, corporates and others and talks about human rights.... whenever Maoists blow up hospitals, derail entire passenger trains, cut out the bellies of murdered cops to plant bombs in them (not kidding!) she suddenly falls silent.
