I would say these are some factors that will hopefully lead China to success, and it is still early to conclude that China is already a success story today. National planning, and you mentioned, is a big uncertainty.
Is national planning an essential factor? How critical is it to the ultimate success? If it is so important why some economies fail given the supposed-to-be the best elites on working 24/7 on it?
The already proven successful economies are Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea and HK. National planning varies very differently across these samples, apparently nothing in common between them on this regard. About China, powerful national planning was even disastrous during some period, almost 2 centuries were lost during say late Manchu and PRC during 1950-1970's. What's your view?
