Friday morning saw the Formula 1 roadshow begun its preparations for Sunday's Grand Prix in Jeddah, with teams taking to the track for three free practice sessions ahead of qualifying on Saturday, yet the city of Jeddah was struck by a missile attack during one of the sessions.
A meeting is going on between the FIA and local authorities to decide whether or not the race can still go ahead, but it was clear that smoke was visible on the television feed of one of Friday's sessions shortly after the blast.



It was a missile attack aimed at the facilities of the nation's oil company, Aramco, who are also a global sponsor of Formula 1.
This was the third week in a row that Aramco facilities have been attacked with responsibility likely to be claimed by the Houthi movement, as part of their ongoing resistance to the Saudi-led military intervention in Yemen.
