How Bangladeshis view Pakistanis today?

historically the Muslim community of Bengal was not very much based on a fixed ethnic pool. so there were numerous historical ethnicities that mingled together to form the Muslim community in Bengal.

both current Bangladesh and Pakistan exist as a result of multi-ethnic efforts (if Gujarati, Bengali and Punjabi for example are considered different ethnicities) happening in the colonial period. particularly the Muslim communities of Bangladesh, Pakistan and North India have been connected historically for time immemorial. these regions have languages of what is considered the same linguistic family and there was influence or practice of the two languages, Urdu and Persian. so it was not for no reason that these Muslim communities (which you consider different enough to be different countries) worked together to found East and West Pakistan. sorry i find what you wrote ignorant about the very community you consider yourself a part of.

East Pakistan obviously had difference with West Pakistan. no one said they were carbon copies of each other. but the difference did not warrant East Pakistan to change into something else. the roots of the Pakistan movement and the resulting political framework were very embedded in Bengal. and not to mention majority of Pakistanis resided in East Pakistan.
Even so. We are Bangladeshi now. We have our own culture, own language, etc.
Seeing your comments above and feeling your frustration my partial instincts say how grave mistake was 1947 partition. Where you had to leave your ancestors home and later became stateless after 1971. How Muslims have to suffer in India like WB, Bihar, UP and Assam due to that 47 partition. And Rohingyas in Arakan
Are you really Bangladeshi? The partition of 1947 was the best thing that could have happened. Muslims of the Subcontinent have their own countries now, otherwise they would be living under Hindus.

the Bangladeshis pioneered the Pakistan Movement and the Pakistan nation in important ways. East Pakistan had every right to remain East Pakistan. the Dhaka division people also have different culture, dialects/languages, etc. from Barisal division people. your last sentence doesn't mean anything.

.
yes 1947 "was a grave mistake" because in your opinion Muslims should have continued to live like second-class citizens and continued to go downhill socio-economically.

and if you think 1947 Partition is the reason that the three countries of the Indo-Pak don't get along, you are wrong. the reasons are because of our imperialist greed, especially what India's like what it has been doing with Kashmir, Murshidabad, East Bengal, etc. ever since 1947.

yes Bangladeshis and Pakistanis of Muhajir background suffered and they left their old homes in India. but when did i say my family had to leave their ancestral homes in 1947? there always based in the south of today's BD. ar kotha pao na?

Initial intention of partition was good but later proved disastrous for us.As the partition was not done fairly, had it been done fairly many other areas would be part of Bangladesh today. Punjab and Bengal that had majority Muslims but a significant minorities of Sikhs and Hindus got partitioned. And UP, Bihar, Gujarat, Lakshadwip, Kerala, Assam etc that had majority Hindus but significant Muslim population left untouched.

If we got these areas the Muslim league claimed we had no problems. People from UP, Bihar and Arakan could migrate to BD. We had no problems to accommodate them.

Now giving you the pic of historical and present concentration of Muslims of Bengal.

Looking above pics I dont think 47 partition was justified. Now I dont want to make argument with you who's argument starts with Pakistan and ends with Pakistan. Lol. Even funny when you use that hinduised bengali language :azn:

Yes it proved helpful for us. But not for all Muslims of this region. And in a long term we lost many things. Even todays hatred of Hindu Muslim is also product of this partition. We could live peacefully. Now what I said above dont mean what I think. Its for arguments sake. Dont think I have to make sense here talking with some guys whom arent loyal to BD

It hasn't proved a disaster for Bangladesh. Bangladesh got its own country out of the independence, so how could that have been a disaster? We should thank Allah that we have our own country instead of having to live under Hindus. A few of you you here are either Hindu Bengalis pretending to be Bangladeshi e.g. BongBang,or have a slave mentality. And yes, people from different regions of Bangladesh may have different dialects but we speak the same language, share the broader Bangladeshi culture, identify ourselves as Bangladeshi. People from Liverpool have very different accent to people from London, but it doesn't make either any less English/British.

Frankly, I don't really care about Indian Muslims. If it didn't work out for them, tough. What matters to me is that we Bangladeshis have our own country.

why are we talking about partition after 65 years. Its done and irreversible. Move on. :coffee:

Im happy that you are a proud Bangladeshi. Yes we have our country now. Which was always here. Thats the point I was trying to show @khair_ctg who insults BD all the time. But we lost the greater Bengal due to that partition.

Do you think you make any sense here? Dont be a laughing stock
Hindus arent our enemy. Our ancestors had good bonding with them. Muslim rulers had Hindu clerks. Hindu and Muslims worked side by side in Sepoy mutiny, Fakir Sannyasi movement, Titumir's movent. That is the British, spread hatred among us.

.
Khair, I see where you're coming from but let us Bangladeshis worry about ourselves. We cannot take the burden of other Muslims on our shoulders. Bangladesh is a poor country as it is, we need to worry about ourselves before meddling in the affairs of others.

You are not Bangladeshi. No Bangladeshi would want good relations with India.

I tell you. You dont have any idea of BD so dont humiliate yourself. We live in BD. Giving you an example whenever there is a ban on any products like foods and coals. There starts that much hue and cry in BD  We want good relationship with India and try to solve our other issues peacefully.

No I doubt you can blame the british for hindu / muslim hatred, it was there way before. The british just used it to maintain control, and that in minor way. The division of british india was the best thing, but its just we muslims hsd to settle for little from the actual division.

Just look at the situation now in india.

Now I dont want to be seen as totally India sympathizer. I can assure you, I dont like them more than anyone. But hating wont let us anywhere. Just giving you an example, just look at the border areas of BD in India. Murshidabad, Malda, Halaikandi, Karimganj, Dhubri. Where before 1947 there was only 50 or less Muslims. Now living 70-75%. Anywhere in India the percentage just grew. Where in our country non Muslim dominated area. Like Khulna and CHT hill tracts which were always non Muslim. This trust issue between Hindu Muslims and hatred is product of that partition.

.
Maybe we still have a connection because you still see Quaid E Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah as your leader? do you or do you not?

Hindu population has always had a lower birth rate, not due to religion but more to do with social economic factors. Poor less educated people have always had larger families, being that post independence (47) most of the poor in West Bengal were Muslim its natural for the Muslim population to increase dis-proportionately in 67 years. Also remember that period was also very dangerous for Muslims in hindu majority areas, so many moved to Muslim areas were they felt safer. This is why you see in West Bengal a region with a large concentration of Muslims right next to a region with high concentration of hindus.

In Bangladesh, similar things have happened, low Hindu birth rate (relative), migration to more prosperous india being the 2 primary factors. Also there was the fact that a lot of Hindu Bangladeshis were murdered by the Pakistani army and their collaborators.

Now, I am not against having cordial relations with india, but i would never trust them, period. I dont know if your a Indian sympathizer, I have a feeling you might be an indian (i might be wrong) but you have a right to your point of view.

NO, sorry no one sees Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah as a Bangladeshi let alone as our leader. We only see him as a player during the 47 period who fought for Pakistan and only cared for the western part. How often did he come to Eastern part?

You may have problems to distinguish between things as Im open minded. And if you can follow this thread from first page you may not have problems to identify who is indian, pakistani and bangladeshi. Follow my response from post #273 to see what I said. And I welcome your response to #264 and #262 of Al zakir and Khair referring bengali language. And see my posts as @Bong in 1971 thread's last pages. And Im totally disgusted with UK walas.

You are probably a Bangladeshi Hindu. I agree that we should not mistreat the Hindus in Bangladesh because, as humans, we should not mistreat another human. Full stop. However, we should not allow any more Hindus in the country. The ones already in Bangladesh should have the same rights as the Muslims but we certainly should not be any more accommodating than that. Any Indian sympathiser among Bangladeshis should know that Hindus do not reciprocate this goodwill. They hate us with a passion.

I see you are a grown up 25 years man. Is it true or just a school boy. What are you? Sick  :blah:

Its good to be open minded, I welcome that. Blind faith is on the other hand dangerous....i have no like or dislike for either pakistan or india, its just i have very little trust or faith in them. I am proud of my Bangladeshi side, and my allegiance has been and always will be to Bangladesh, what i cant understand is how Bangladeshis in Bangladesh have so little respect for their own nation.

regards

UK wala

Respect for Bangladesh comes first than respect for all. People should be pro Humanity first. Not nationalist or religious. Its the online giving some misinformation on anything.
How did my posts didnt represent any respect for BD. If you want to be a proud Bangladeshi then quote khair and al zakir. My posts arent the absolute last things what I think. And there are albeit many problems in BD that all cant agree on everything.
