What's new

Hope for India

Kejriwal is sensible man ...he had to play Socialism card ....he will have to take up populist agenda .

Thats how degradation starts. Arvind is relatively new to Indian politics and hence starting with a clean slate on all issues. he also has an opportunity to bring in fresh thoughts. Now if he too starts being a populist, i'm afraid he'll never be able to solve several issues AAP has promised.

The Aam Aadmi Party, which stole the show in the Delhi Assembly poll, has been witnessing a heavy rush of followers to its official website and the Facebook page of its Kerala unit ever since the results came out on Sunday.

as long as corruption remains an issue ( which is going to be the case ) and as long as AAP remains clean ( which is the challenge ) ....AAP will remain in fray !

The real challenge for AAP will come outside Delhi ....

I personally think AAP will largely remain confined to Delhi and some metrocities ....

It takes long years and pretty hard work to establish a national party...

as far as your last statement is concerned ....i have one adage to quote ...

" Some goals are so divine ....they are glorious even to fail !!! "

I feel sorry for Anna....He is a true patriot who cares for country ....In Anna we saw glimpse of Gadhiji ...and we thought we have a saviour ....

But Gandhiji was a shrewd politician ....which anna can't be ...

anna is being used by all and sundry ....

Good that Kejriwal extricated from Anna-team at right time ....

VK Singh has got strong personal ambitions and agenda ....he looks no better than opportunist like Baba Ramdev ....who only used Anna's image and platform to his own benefit ...

AAP is not the only way to end corrupution , Modi is also known to curtail corruption and increase efficiency of the system. Plus the anti-elitist and anti-capitalist neo-socialist or probably communist mindset of AAP can be a huge impediment to the growth and prosperity of this country. BJP as of now is the safer bet , I;ll go with corruption free pro growth and development BJP rather than fanatically socialist AAP.

if AAP comes to power:

1. more subsidy ( maybe even free electricity )
2. more empowerment to local bodies and less power to central authorities = more confusion and corruption and less efficiency
3. no to liberalization - less jobs and more deficit

the thing is you cannot win and should not win unless you don't have a vision .... simply practicing theoretical approach without practical conscience would push the country to NEHRUVIAN ERA.

AAP can be a great addition to LEFT and that's it.

I am highly doubtful of AAP and the politics its playing these days...

More the merrier ....parties like AAP will bring value and intellectual debate to the Democratic crusade against Corruption.

I am neither Pro Modi or Pro Kejriwal.
But we all can see the emergence of AAP has changed the course of politics in Delhi ....and for better reasons .

Have you heard of it before ....the single largest party refusing to form government just because it has no necessary numbers ???

I think we have to give some credit to AAP for that ...

I believe in resilience and flexibility any Democratic system offers in this sense ...

The emeregence of AAP validates our hope in democracy ...

People have punished the oldest and largest national party and has favoured a new and largely unknown , insignificant party ...

why are we overlooking this great phenomenon ...

the value that AAP beings to democratic debate is immense ....

we really don't have to worry about the so called Socialistic extremism of AAP ...

we tolerated diverse political parties such as CPI , Shiv Sena , BJP and so on ....

same questions were raised against BJP ....once !

today BJP forms main anti-Congress opposition in India ....

despite so called Right wing agenda of BJP ...

have n't we seen BJP adapting to national belief system ....?

are we underestimating the strength of our Democratic system ....

I believe, in times when people are becoming cynical about politics ....Victory of AAP represents the victory of Hope over cynicism and hopelessness !!!

In democracy ...Populism can't be termed as vice altogether ...
I absolutely understand what you are trying to point at ...and I partly agree with that ...

But in democracy some sort of populism is unavoidable ....because it necessarily has to reflect wishes of majority....

One has to forge right balance between these mutually competing interests .....

I mean what majority wishes and demands ....need not be necessarily socially , ethically , scientifically correct ....

This is the biggest drawback of Democracy ....because it necessarily works with principle of majority.

If majority fools agree then they can win against few sane minority voices ...

.But democracy allows those minority voices to be heard and debated ....there is scope for change of majority opinion by this dialogue ...

since we have adopted democracy...we will have to work within limitations of such system....

This is very simplistic conclusion ...

all new political factions ride over wave of populism ...only to be grounded in reality later on....

one can't go on with populism alone for long time ...

this is what happened with DMK, AIADMK, Shiv Sena , Akali Dal etc ....

so unless AAP adapts itself and re-invents ...it will be subjected to same fate as other such parties which seemed promising at the beginning ....

To sum up AAP = Populism is really not correct .

and mind you AAP can't survive politics just by giving lot of subsidies ...

same thing or even worse is being attempted by congress ....by bringing MNREGA, AADHAR , Food Security bill etc

Do you think Congress will succeed ....???

......people saying AAP is inexperienced, they don't know what to do......but I am satisfied knowing that they know what NOT to do......given a chance they can prove themselves....'cause I think, when you work with good intentions everything else falls in place eventually.......

i was pro-modi once but now I fully support AAP

They are a positive and revolutionary force to change India....

And that's why AAP will end up helping Congress in 2014 election, they won't be able to win many seats across India, but will take away some anti-Congress votes that otherwise would have gone to BJP or any other strong opponent in that seat. See, a die-hard Congress fan and a Pakistani thanked your post! :)

AAP = false hope..
jaago grahak jaago.. :)
bunch of super smart people playing with sentiments of smart people. :)

I heard that some AAP members took huge loans, even mortgaged their houses to fight Delhi election. Now, how they would pay off the loans; from the MLA's salary? This reminds me of the "Animal Farm"!

And what exactly will AAP do with all the votes it gets from LS elections ? it will go to complete waste as they will refuse to support either ..... hung assembly....third front....

They will not Deliver , Kejrival knows too well and is afraid of forming govt.the 700 liters of free water and 50% drop in electricity prises is down right impossible to achieve .. Its sad to see smart educated people fall for the same Socialists freebee's nonsense ...

It's been achieved in many developed countries, isn't it? We've been governed so badly that we tend to think whatever development we see in India is the best that is humanely possible. This is definitely not the case.

Forget 700 litres and 50% drop, even 250 litres/person/day and 20% drop in electricity bills would be a welcome change from current levels, don't you think?

Retired General V K Singh used the platform meant to fight for Jan Lokpal Bill to drive his won agenda to belittle Kejriwal....Gopal Rai is associated with Jan Lokpal Bill movement since very beginning ...
If Gopal rai was wrong to interrupt ...then Retired General V K Singh was all the more wrong to start it in first place.

Retired Gen V K singh has been rebuked by Supreme court for his rash statements ....He is also pleading J & K assembly to drop privilege motion against him ...

Retired General V K Singh similarly tried to sabotage career of current Army chief ...

Retired General V K Singh is embroiled in numerous controversies ...

at some point of time he was quite cosy with BJP leaders ...now he has turned to anna ...Inconsistency is hallmark feature of his actions and thoughts and speech ...

seems the General you rever so much is not all that good you suppose so ....

Love is blind....and I think you are in love with Retired General V K Singh !!!

Yeah,he was removed one year in advance based on fake evidence and at that high level, someone or the other's chance to become Army Chief is always spoilt,i guess you forgot the case of Lt.Gen H.S.Panag F/O Gul Panag and how they transferred him to a different command and scuttled his chances of becoming the Chief.

Do you know that the value of INR dropped 25% in the last 6 months and with a large fiscal deficit, the ability to provide subsidy for fuel is very low?

same story with electricity.

Who told you that the taxation system will be retained as it is at present in order to fund these projects? AAP's policies call for a Holistic approach at Governance and infra management. Water and electricity pilfering was also a major area of concern and picked up as an action-point by AAP.

please explain the holistic approach,i hope it is not let us tax the rich and confiscate the gold story?
