Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today called upon the countrymen and the pro-liberation forces to remain alert so that the defeated forces in the Liberation War of 1971 cannot get the scope to distort the history.

“A group of people were trying to erase the name of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the 7th March speech. History cannot be erased and they could not be able to do this,” Hasina said.

Hasina said the people, who were trying to erase the speech of the 7th March, killed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with his family members on August 15, 1975.

She was addressing a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka organised to celebrate the recognition of the historic 7th March speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as a world documentary heritage.

Sheikh Hasina, also president of Bangladesh Awami League, reached the venue around 2:40pm.

People from every walk of life, including AL leaders and activists, are seen thronging the venue in processions, reports our senior staff correspondent from the spot.

On October 30, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) recognised the Bangabandhu's historic March 7 speech as part of world's documentary heritage. UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova announced the decision at the UNESCO Headquarters, Paris.

According to the decision, Bangabandhu's 7th March speech has been included in the Memory of the World International Register, a list of world's important documentary heritage maintained by the UNESCO.

It is probably the speech edited by the Awami League. In his speech of 7th March he finished his speech by uttering Joy Bangla, Joy Pakistan. So, what the new edition says?

History is not a science and have been documented by people with agendas and biases. History can be erased, distorted and rewritten.. a lesson we can learn from hindu bhakts who claim that Taaj Mahal was built on a shiv temple..."remaking the histroy"

History always been erased and rewritten in favour of political head, its a fundamental policy to gain prestige. How we can be sure the history we learnt wasn't rewritten? Or the leaders of nations/kingdoms/empires were all saints? In the same way some historical figures or entities might be represented in a negative way. Its a known fact that politics and corruption get along with eachother.

This woman needs to seriously get a grip, this kind of nonsensical gibberish is only damaging her self and her country. hundreds of thousands died during partition, but how sad/ridiculous would it be if Pakistan or Indias PM would make a speech about it every other week.

Good job SHW, chanakya also gonna support your haters too (behind scenes). Let the best man....er lady...win ;) the point is effective population control and continued overall effective control by Dada in the echo chamber. BD people like to be pawns, its never ever going to change....they get slapped around by their women folk when they try to change the TV from Indian soap operas...so they just surrendered that whole issue too like they surrendered to BNP/BAL and whatever else Dada decides they get to have in the envelope it established.

If you are not from BD, just stop and think for a moment would your country send on the scale of 1+ million people each year for medical treatment+tourism to another country that day in and day out kills those same people at the border in the bushels? Like I said, utter pawns with no backbone....its that reality that causes the severe butthurt attitude of BD members in this forum....to try keep pace with countries that actually do have backbone and military and economy worth talking about/debating....so that the reality of their pathetic and dominated little swamp can be forgotten momentarily. Please try to understand them, once you do, you will understand their leaders too....they just playing a standard kabuki for the masses.
