Muslims live in 500 districts of India and i'm not going tell the number of villages where Muslims live. There only handful of districts where Partition related violence took place, entire South, Central and even Western India was peaceful though large numbers Muslims live these regions too.

These OBCs and Dalits are the Hindus on the ground.

It's they who live with Muslims on the ground and have daily interaction with them. It is their enmity or friendship with maximum number of Muslims they live with everyday of their lives.
If communal violence is perpetrated on them by the muslims, they simply retaliate.

OBCs and Dalits have never asked so called upper castes to help them defend against Muslim rioters, rather they help upper caste Hindus in such situation.

Those numbers are nothing compared to the violence that took place in Pakistan and also compared to numbers of Muslims who lived in riot free regions in India in those days. It could have been Hell.
