Physical Heir -- PAKISTAN

The IVC where it existed is TODAY's PAKISTAN

But the CIVILISATIONAL Heir and the Cultural heir -- India / Hinduism

Indus Valley Civilisation LED to Vedic Civilisation ie Hindu Civilisation
and spread to the whole sub continent

The answer to that question is who still continues the same traditions,Culture and Civilization as the Indus valley people did even now?
They happen to be the heirs of Indus Valley Civilization.
Not some people who discarded their civilization and broke off all threads of tradition, culture in favor of a alien one.

bharati are followers of IVC while our ancestors was builder of civilization. Big differene, in last thousand years we develop other civilization for us which is based on sufism, which most of the people follow here and expending in ganga valley as we speak, soon you followers will follow suit. indian hindus have great admiration for sufism.

Well India of course. Similar to how heir to the Roman Empire is Romania. We know the land east of Danube was Dacia and nation we call Romania.

Therefore Roman Empire equates to Romania. This is the same arguement Indian's peddle. Modern map of Europe. Do you see Romania? Thus Roman Empire equals Romania. It certainly can't be Italy!

So who is the heir to Roman Empire today - is it Europe, Africa, Middle East, Asia or Romania?

At @flamer84

And now see where Indus Valley Civilization falls (map below)? 95% of Indus runs through Pakistan with minor in China and India. IVC itself spreads from Pakistan and spills over on the West into Iran, Afghanistan and on the East into minor part of India. The centre is Pakistan with the fulcrum the Indus River. You can see where Mehr Garh, Mohenjo Daro and Harrapa are.

These are the facts on the ground but you can of course distort this as much as you want.

And BTW 5,000 years ago there was no "India". The name did not even exist.

This Indin fascination for IVC is as lame as the Syrian's or Romanian's claming Roman Empire. The former because of their name "Romania" and the later because they have Roman ruins in Palmyra.

The Indian's really need to lay off the Indus which is to Pakistan like Nile is to Egypt. Indian's need to go back and worship the holy river - Ganges. For gawds sake take pride in being Gangalanders.

Um...the answer is quite simple.

Because India is a subcontinent, with dozens upon dozens of rivers flowing through it. Very unlike Pakistan which is a small country with only one major river - Indus on which everything depends upon.

Indus, is just one of the rivers that flows through India. Ganga is another. Similarly there are many others.

Excellent pedantic misdirect.

The OP is heir to IVC not the birthplace of IVC. Christianity has it's origin in ME but the bastion of Christianity is Europe, North and South America.

The word "heir" means one who has inherited. Civilization is not lifeless ruins or few broken pieces of crockery. Civilization is a socio-cultural-religious construct and I am afraid Pakistan if it had that legacy then it has lost it long ago.

Except for a extreme minority of Pakistan there are no followers or practitioners of what was then the IVC, TBH I am not sure India can claim much as the link b/w IVC and Vedic Culture is not clear-cut but still a case can be made for the "inheritors".

P.S. I got down to semantics because you chose to make that point about Roman civ and Romania.

@Max These delusional people equate the term "India" when used as in sub continent same as "India" when used in political union called Bharat. They conflate both.

Like Romanian's start getting delusional that just because they have similar name to Roman Empire. Next we will have West Indian's lining up, then Indiania state in USA and maybe down the road Indonesia as wel. Madness.

One country Bharat wants to appropriate the entire legacy of South Asia under the name "India". That is as delusional as a person today with the name "Ali" getting ideas he is the legacy of Mohammed Ali the boxer just because of shared name.

isnt India a country for hindutva for millions of years? :D yeah, subcontinent on name of indus valley which is 95% in Pakistan.. you have dozens of rivers which completely flowing in ganga valley but you chose a river for name of your country which flow 95% in Pakistan? are those rivers inferior to indus which completely flows in India? :D

Indus, is just one of the rivers that flows through India. Ganga is another. Similarly there are many others.

approx. 95% Indus flows in Pakistan.. not in gangaland, yet ganga valley chose name Indus? why not ganga, ganges, which completely flows in India? Pakistan have many rivers not one..

Again you are arguing from Ignorance. The claim has never been based on semantics but on socio-cultural linkages. India still retains the original microcosm of the civilizations of what was then Indian subcontinent unlike in Pakistan and BD which were subsumed by the foreign culture and religions. Pakistan of today has nothing which distinguishes it from the invaders infact it's very laws put it's minorties (i.e. leftovers) at disadvantage. Infact Pakistan was so keen to divorce itself from the legacy of ancient civilizations that it actively advocated two nation theory based not on cultural but religious differences.

And @Spectre the link in civilizational continuity betwen IVC as modern Hindusim is so weak and tenous that you can make all sort of delusional connections. This is where the big fraud is manufactured by latching on to the minute traces in IVC as connections with Hinduism. It's like me saying I eat food through my mouth and release it through my rectum and lo and behold so did folk in IVC that means I am heir to them as they dispay similar characteristics as me.

IVC people ate meat, buried their dead. Quite contrary to Hinduism. And if you start flexing the connection well it gets tenous. So tenous that anybody can start seeing connections and making big deal about it.

Modern Egypt and Nile. Modern Pakistan and Indus. Period.
