The Constitution very clearly defines what is treason and what falls other other types of crimes. What Gen Musharraf did is clearly treason as defined by the Constitution and he needs to answer for it after due process.

The issue of Gen. Musharaff is very difficult to solve and politicians will not prosecute him and the reasons are they themselves are involved in lot of corrupt practices. This is a sort of ring of thugs. All of them will protect each other.
The only good thing Nawaz Sharif could do is learn some lesson and try to avoid the Mughal style of power politics. Giving proper autonomy to all the institutions of the state is the basic foundation. This means executive should give power of selection of COAS in the military.

I agree with you that they are all thieves of various sorts who are in power in Pakistan, but giving the military the power of selecting its own COAS will require a Constitutional Amendment as presently that authority is vested in the office of the Prime Minister and President, just like other high offices.

Giving top most selection power to the military is giving a message ' we are not poking our nose in your business, which in a developing country's executive (political junta) is even not capable.
India has chosen the path of seniority based promotion in the higher ranks of the military. Which is working very well.

But that is the whole point: It is the military that needs to know its true place as being subservient to civil authority, not the other way round.

This is not about what is right, it is all about power. If political elite stops poking their nose in their affairs, it will make them think million times before stepping in civilian matters.

The way, Nawaz Sharif did with Gen. Jehnagir Keramat, Asif Nawaz and then Musharraf was all about the fear in the civilian elite.
Nawaz Sharif has been always under the fear of the military. With that fear he steps on the their toes. I think Nawaz Sharif has to deal with his military fear first.

Dude one is a bureaucrat and other is a doctor! they are not on unemployment allowance. It doesn't cost many thousands to flying from Europe to Dubai. Now try to use your brain and think of some better excuse.
