Featured Hasina calls for strengthening ties with Pakistan

Pakistan has interest in Bangladesh. Centuries old linkages, business bonds, and cultural ties.
What cultural ties ? We can't even speak to each other in
any language other than English.
If a Pakistani walks the streets of Dhaka he can neither read the signs or speak the language. Likewise a non-English speaking Bangladeshi will be lost in Islamabad. I hate to say this but a Pakistani in Delhi would be far more comfortable communication wise.

But Hasina needs to get rid of her propaganda against Pakistan that is polluting the minds of many Bengladeshis.
No she is not polluting the minds of Bangladeshis. She is echoing the national sentiment. That is how Bangladeshis think, We may disagree but it is their nation.
Funny thing is if Bangladeshs existence was ever threatened by India or Myanmar only Pakistan would be able to defend them via military or nukes...
I am afraid you are mistaken. There is no military alliance between Bangladesh and Pakistan nor should there be. Pakistan's nuclear and conventional weapons are meant for its own defense. There is no obligation on Pakistan to defend Bangladesh and vice versa, Bangladesh has correctly maintained strict neutrality between Pakistan and India ( recent air skirmish in 2019 is an example).
Pakistan likewise is neutral between Myanmar and Bangladesh which is why it is selling JF-17 aircraft to Myanmar.[/QUOTE]

I guess the journalist intentionally didn’t mention that Hasina also said Bangladesh can’t forget what Pakistan army did to them and it was so hurtful that it’s unforgettable
DAWN is one of the worst media outlets in Pakistan.
Not surprising. Contributed to breaking of Pakistan by keeping people of the west Pakistan in the dark
Or you nuke us. Simple
Who’s gonna nuke us, anyone who tries risk destruction themselves...
Pakistan will nuke us? India will trust Pakistan’s rockets to not fall on India? And vice versa? What about China? 3 closest neighbors have nukes and don’t trust each other. Unless we’re in a nuclear world war... there wouldn’t be any problem

I think its time to move forward.
Its very big from her point of view as her hard stance on pakistan.
Now when she is softening it then you should give her some rest.
We have no issues left pakistan and bangaldesh. We should have better relations, trade, investment and regional everything.
For how long should we fight.

Not surprising. It's like Israel and Germany.,The prime minister says one thing for the domestic audience and another for the diplomatic community.
Israel curses Germany as responsible for a holocaust but want's German sub-marine technology and Leopard tank armor. Likewise Hindutva zealots decry Muslim atrocities over centuries but will go to Saudi Arabia for jobs.
The question is what does Bangladesh want from Pakistan?
We know Pakistan wants pan leaves and betel nuts.

Actually they did Pakistan and themselves a favor. Pakistan is no longer constrained in its military actions on it borders and risk loosing its dog leg in the east. Pakistan is far more defensible and logistically viable. Likewise Bangladeshis don't have to be stranded and cut off from the western half of their once constituent nation, when India shut down the overflights and blockaded the ports.

No one is gonna nuke you unless to try your Cold Start gimmick. Here is how the escalation will progress.
- India wants to "punish" Pakistan and seizes a chunk of Pakistani territory as a "negotiating " point.
- Pakistan uses a tactical nuke on its own territory to break the Indian stranglehold.
- India "ups-the- ante" and responds with a city busting missile strike.
- Pakistan responds in kind.

Ok she is "not to be trusted ".
Could you tell me even if it want to how can Bangladesh harm Pakistan? What CAN Bangladesh do?
Will Bangladeshi troops be fighting alongside India on the Indo Pakistan border?
Or will Bangladesh Air Force planes fly all the way to bomb Pakistan?
Why would they ?
Pakistani politicians ( a few lunatics aside) have long since stopped talking about Bangladesh.
Most Bangladeshi politicians do talk about Pakistan, and we should let them vent their emotions. In time they will realize the futility of such words.
Their words are mild in comparison to what we hear from the media, politicians, retired generals and serving chief of army staff from our "friendly next door neighbor".
The Bangladeshi media and armed forces personnel are remarkably restrained when referring to Pakistan and in fact they seldom mention Pakistan at all.

Bengali/bds main concern is economic prosperity. Once bd becomes prosperous n/e India will be eating out of bds hand. Also by that time turkeys kfs fighter will be ready and inshallal its is good and bd buys them.

Greater economy more powerful bd can become.

Elements like you in pak gov - is the reason why relations have gone down hill. We don't have Americas or China protection nor do we seek to be tied to them.

Economic prowess without military might is nothing. Your economic might can/will be destroyed in a week's time of war...

You can align yourself and cooperate with Pakistan. We aren't the ones with anti-Bengali sentiments. Hasina and Bengalis like her hold very toxic anti-Pakistani feelings. And I know many Bengalis hate her also. I simply presented forth a possible solution to a problem we all face. :D

Pakistan should return the gesture and start working on toppling her for someone with a lot more backbone.

She has wasted a lot of Bengali potential and has been a roadblock in Pakistani-Bengali reconciliation. Once the new regime settles in......Pakistan and Bangladesh can open a 3rd front....from Bengali side, in terms of helping, influencing and arming rebels in North Eastern Indian territory...

Major havoc can be made in the red and neighboring Indian states of Bangladesh:

And looks like the relationship has been thawing for quite some time:

We should have a joint Sino Pakistani naval and air base in Calcautta to keep watch on Bay of Bengal. Chinese will be able to check mate Westerners and we can keep watch on India.

Good move. This Pakistani Diplomat in Dhaka is doing some really good work since he assumed office.

The Bengali spirit is the only weapon we need, Any northern heathen who enters our land, Dies.
You would need to re-define the word "Bengali " or use the word "Bangladeshi" instead. Across the border ( Oui paar Bangla ) the bhadralok have different meaning of the word.

Or you nuke us. Simple.
.
No one is really interested. The only people who would be mildly interested would be the bhadralok , but even they know that the contamination will get them as well.
The fact that Bangladesh is the only isolated Muslim country, surrounded by two anti Muslim nations and still standing is enough proof. We needn't please the naysayers.
Only isolated Muslim country?
Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't Albania qualify for the same situation.?

We have been defending our lands even before we became Muslims and now that sense of defending ones home has only becomes stronger as we face a grave threat from Genocidal neighbours.
.
In more recent history your statement holds true. In fact Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay wrote the famous novel " Anand Moth which chronicles the resistance of the Bengali monks against foreign invaders. That is where the song Vande Mataram originates from.
But centuries ago Chandra Gupta Maurya of Bihar ( 250 C.E) ruled Bengal also.
I salute the resilience of Bangladesh in overcoming overwhelming odds.
We are good at killing artificially constructed "nation states".
Maybe. In a world where religion is increasingly becoming irrelevant in foreign relations nation states artificial or otherwise can only survive by putting some reasonable limits on linguistic and ethnic jingoism. Much as I hate to admit it the Kolkata bhadralok have become multilingual fluently speaking Hindustani and Bengali while retaining their unchallenged mastery over Bengali culture.
Which is why Kolkata is a cosmopolitan city with at least 4 newspapers being published in Urdu along with Hindi, Bengali,English, Gujaraati. Just a personal choice but I wish Dhaka would someday be like Kolkata and
the intense intellectual atmosphere of the Calcutta coffee house could be resurrected.
All India Radio and Doordarshan Bangla would broadcast the slogan.

"Banglar Vayu Banglar Jol
Banglar Matir Banglar Phol
Jay ho Jay ho Hey Bhagowan"

Simple words Bangladesh lives with in it own means. If it has greater means then it can buy more advanced military hardware. Unlike some other countries.

Culturally a Pakistani Punjabi in Lahore will identify more with a Hindu Punjabi in Delhi than anyone in Bangladesh.
.FFS har cheez culture mein tolo gai..kabhi national interest ki ainak laga kar bhi daikh lia karo..

Well put ! 👍
The million dollar question here is where is the primary threat to Bangladesh coming from?
Whom is Bangladesh going to fight?
A part answer to that question is to know which countries Bangladesh will not be fighting and Pakistan is obviously not on Bangladesh's list of adversaries.
Basic fact is that Bangladesh has no imminent threats to its security.
The Chakma uprising, Sarbohara movement, have all been dealt with.

Bangladesh has no need of spending more resources on defense.
If the hint is that Pakistan is overspending on defense then the advice is unfounded and unwanted.
Pakistan's geographical location, great power strategic interests, and threats from a powerful adversary whose ideology is the destruction of Pakistan make up an
entirely different threat perception.
Pakistan cannot choose its adversaries or make peace with them on account of a religious ideological conflict . The situation does not even have a territorial concession as an issue. If there was Pakistan would have made peace the same way it did with China ceding territory and building relationships. It is a question of survival.
Pakistan is facing a fascist ideological nuclear armed enemy who is not satisfied with the intervention in the civil war Pakistan fought. The enemy would like another civil war in Pakistan and another intervention and failing that an outright aggression.
The situation demands that we maintain a deterrence even at the cost of our economic progress. The alternative is occupation and slavery and as a stark example of what the fascist entity would do to us is visible at the events in Kashmir.
Bangladeshis should understand our position.
There is no interest in Pakistan in
having any relationship with Bangladesh other than a purely normal relationship just as Pakistan has a relationship with Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Maldives.,

Simple words Bangladesh lives with in it own means. If it has greater means then it can buy more advanced military hardware. Unlike some other countries.

Means are made....not given...

Like I said earlier in this thread, Hasina and other leadership in Bangladesh will only hold back the true Bengali potential. Obviously, some in Bangladesh want to be in servitude to India because of lack of balls, to be quite frank. On the other hand, I know there exist those who would take off the shackles also...

This is a good step towards normalization of relationship between Pakistan and Bangladesh but more should be done...
