Things don’t work like that, it’s govt responsibly to protect it people from instruments of psychological warfare. Hamid mir is just a tool, who in his ego and self importance can go to any length. Media isn’t a state institution or essentially no one to formulas people minds and have power to challenge state. Media isn’t an investigation agency or sworn officials. Their loyalty is to their owner or funder. Specially in Pakistan where there is no shortage of lifafi journalists.
Media in this day and age can do wonders to enforce a certain narrative be it owned by State or NOT.
Idk ask your police and judicial system. He is not alone. Just because he found space on TV, doesn’t mean state will bend backwards to find who did what to him. He better get in line for justice .
In US, China and Russia, media there are control and check and balances on media behind the scenes. Stay in certain parameters or lose your job.
Agree, but you didn't get my point, again my point was NOT if the media in the respective countries you mentioned is "strictly controlled" by the State or NOT, my point was that media is a powerful tool to sway a "certain narrative" whoever owns it...

Yes, an equilibrium have to be maintained such that your national interests are not compromised and at the same time you are accommodating enough to present "diverse opinions" from various diaspora of your society ... critical balance indeed.
