Gunmen attack Saudi consulate car in Karachi, one Saudi dead

KARACHI: Gunmen attacked a car belonging to the Saudi Arabian consulate in Karachi on Monday killing a Saudi national, police said.

The Saudi national who died in the attack was a security officer reportedly posted at the mission; DawnNews quoted the police as saying.

His body was shifted to the Jinnah hospital, police said.

The attack came days after unidentified attackers threw two hand grenades at the Saudi consulate in the city. No one as hurt in that attack.

Al Qaeda is violently opposed to the Saudi government and has vowed revenge for the killing of its leader, Saudi-born Osama bin Laden, by US special forces in Pakistan on May 2.

Driver of Saudi Consulate car shot dead

KARACHI: The driver of a Saudi Consulate car was shot and killed by unidentified assailants in Karachi on Monday.

Express 24/7 correspondent Shaheryar Mirza reports that at the time of the incident, the driver was alone in the car in the Khayaban-e-Shahbaz area of Defence.

SP Clifton Tariq Dharejo said the driver was a Saudi national, and was shot at while the car was moving.

Eye witnesses said that four men on two motorcycles followed the car at around 9am and opened fire at the driver. The first round of firing missed the driver but he was killed when assailants on the second bike opened fire.

Rangers from the Bahrain Embassy nearby arrived at the scene to report the incident.

Last week, four men on a motorcycle threw two explosive items towards the Saudi Consulate that turned out to be firecrackers.

Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah visited the Saudi consulate at Clifton a day after it was attacked.

Shah maintained that the law-enforcement agencies have been directed to arrest the culprits as soon as possible.

Maybe it's good to separate Pakistan from Saudi Arabia, after all, that country is the reason for all the problems in Pakistan & the rest of the Muslim world today.
