What's new

Greek Army wants to conquer Istanbul?

Well you need much more than Greece to threaten Turkey, Greece alone cannot be viewed as a worthy opponent.

.
Well let me analyse with branches:

ARMY:

In the European side of Turkey, there's an Armored Battalion, last I checked more than 2 infantry divisions, a commando brigade. So it's easy to suppres ground attack and move towards greece.

NAVY:

As you know Izmir is the closest city to Greece. And guess what we have in there?

Naval Battle Fleet Command, SAT-SAS Group Command, 6000 men Amphibious Marines based at Foca, 54 landing crafts and a Naval Air Base is located at izmir. It won't take a day to siege Athens and islands.

AIR FORCE:

Also there's a big air base in Izmir which's also a nato command

Last time they wanted to approach Istanbul was in Kardak crisis. When our SAT commandos took the island. The gov't and military staff were resigned.

IMPORTANT FACTS:

1- Greece is too busy with economical crisis. I ain't think that they can wonder sth like that.

2- Izmir-Cigli AB is the HQ of NATO-Allied Joint Force Command. Meanwhile the Land Forces Command of whole nato. The base is bridge.

3- a war with Iran, Iraq, Syria, Armenia is possible. But noway for Greece. US won't allow it's nato folks to fight eachother while thinking of attacking Iran, Syria.

@Aeronaut, Pakistan always stood with Turkey. And Turkey with Pakistan. I don't how far are we from eachother. But what I know is both countries will always protect eachother. :) btw bro, where can I get the photos of Indus Viper'13.

The photos will be posted as soon, as we get them. None so far!

Just look at the patriotic propaganda put out by Golden Dawn it's so good makes you want to join their movement.

They think they're Spartans of Hellas.

"Out of the darkness we will Rise" - Golden Dawn

@Aeronaut, yara there is no comparison between Greece and modern day Turkey. Greece is a broken nation, and trust me the relations are quite cordial since past couple of years. In Istanbul alone in the past two years, hundreds and hundreds of Greek trading companies have opened offices. I deal with them on a daily basis. Most of trade finance activities are being handled from here in Turkey.

The prospect of armed conflict is close to zero, but i would like to bring forward the fact that AKP and Erdogoon have purged the military in the last decade. Now, only yes men remain whose military expertise could be questionable.

And Greece is not that weak to be honest, despite the crisis it is still arming (just last month they signed on for 2 FREMM frigates) though in the end i also think Turkey would win a 1v1 if the Greeks decided to roll towards Istanbul.
As for the other scenario. Turkey rolling top Greece, i believe Turkey would stall in the ground phase, since the Greeks outgun them heavily in the MBT category and the Air Force's are quite closely matched.

Highlight of the thread is Pakistanis offering cruise missiles instead of concentrating on home issues while their country is burning. So telling of the mindset and why things are how they are.

Thank you for your precious analysis. Much appreciated. Not.

let them try it...it will only give the turks a chance to liberate thrace and macedonia....

Liberate? They were always Greek....back when Turks lived in tents near China.

You'd be surprise the Golden Dawn only won 7% of the seats in the last election, not significant enough to create real right-wing shift in Greek politics. Though Golden Dawn or Dusk, Greece cannot pose a threat to Turkiye or Istanbul specifically.

7% is a huge number for a far right cult. Lets see what next year brings and the year after.

Why dont you go and educate yourself on the quality and quantity on both sides and come up with an informed decision not constrained by ideology.

Frankly i could not care less if you appreciate anything from me or not. it still does not make you correct. Akin to ostrich sticking it's head in the sand thinking noone sees him.

Now, when you come back with some concrete numbers, feel free to reply.

I served in the Turkish Armed Forces, therefore, I feel as if I have a better perspective. Don't have time to negate your ramblings. Thanks.

 Serving in the armed forces gives you carte blanche for any claim you make? But, at least you explained from where the bias comes from.

Feeling is not knowing. And dare i ask what perspective that was? A grunt's one?
Now, run along and educate yourself. It will take exactly 5 minutes to examine the order of battle of both Turkey and Greece.

Well it's the same perspective which made a claim couple years back that Yanks will be out of Afghanistan with tail between their legs... go run couple simulations, with variables you can't yet comprehend... BUBye! :D
