What's new

Greater China (14,351 U.S. patents) beats Germany again in 2011!

China has only 3700 patents, its Taiwan which has 9000 patents. For obvious reasons

for obvious reasons a "free and democratic" india is less than 2 times of that of Hong Kong, 1/3 of China's, 1/8 of Taiwan's
!

I take it then you belong to the minority that wants reunification?
That's fine, just don't claim someone else's stuff. (<< in this case (weirdly) you would be claiming patents from the Peoples republic.)

more and more people from taiwan want reunification with the motherland.
they realise the pointless excercise of resisting china over the long term.

china has the consumer markets, provide the direct investments, is developing the financial system and catching up technologically, and building up our military power.

in 20 years, china will be so powerful in all areas no one will dare mess with the motherland.

Since around 70% of the patents are from Taiwan, thread should be renamed to Greater Taiwan US patents to reflect the reality :)

Indians need to learn some humility. India is outclassed by small countries like the Netherlands and far away from the top 10. Mainland China is at least in the top 10 and making progress on a much faster scale.

No one is demonizing the accomplishment. I was just pointing out that the accomplishment is Taiwan's not China's, so credit should go to Taiwan.

No-one is claiming Taiwan shouldn't get any credit, both taiwan & china have filed more patents in 2011. Greater China isn't used to lower the perception of Taiwan's contribution.
