Govt wants to legalize sheesha to collect more taxes

Good idea. Double tax every intoxicant, increase taxes on Alcohol and legalize it for all but enforce strict ID logging on who purchases it.

Same goes for prostitution, legalize it and then record prostitute visitors with publicity searchable entries on their NiC.

Great for marriage checks.

the problem is with legalizing such things is that they make people their addict and their demand is inelastic that is people will buy them even if govt increase taxes and pay for them by cutting their expenditure on healthy food and education of their kids as well as losing their savings which can be used in some constructive businesses.As a whole this will lead to unhealthy society.We cannot copy what is happening in western developed nations as their public is much rich and can easily pay for such things without affecting their expenses on healthy food and other items necessary for good life

Taxes on tobacco stops newer generation from getting hooked. I've seen what high cig taxes in UK achieved and that's younger generation not taking it up because of high cost. Those who were addicted continue to pay higher prices or shifted to vaping.

Overall it benefits the society to tax these kind of harmful to health items to reduce consumption.

In Pakistan I see young kids buying loose cigs from shops everywhere. There's the real damage to the society and no one is putting a stop to it!

I never understood why Pakistan banned shisha in the first place. It's just tobacco mixed with dried fruit shavings to provide flavour. Of course nowadays it's more processed but essentially it's just flavoured tobacco.

I used to smoke shisha casually sometimes with friends, wouldn't say no now, but i don't anymore because the shisha places are no longer chilled, their too loud and blasting music, you can't even have a conversation without shouting.

Also it is bad for your health.
