Give Pervez Musharraf Support

I liked mushraff but do not agree on his few acts like excessive show of power at lal masjid with live media coverage, NRO, favours to millitary generals and kernals, lack of attention to power generation.

My friend Pakistan has the capacity to generate 25,000 mega watts of power but we are only generating 14,000 or less. This is a plan of Raja Pervaiz Ashraf to get more kickbacks so please don't blame president Musharraf for this.

‘Musharraf to announce return date in Sept’

LAHORE: Former president General (retired) Pervez Musharraf will announce the manifesto of his All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) as well as date of his return to Pakistan in September, says Chaudhry Shahbaz Husain, APML chief coordinator.

At a press conference on Sunday, Mr Husain said their party had been in touch with PML-Q leaders for the last three months for a possible unification, claiming both the factions would soon assemble on a platform.

PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Husain, however, told reporters that those talking of unification should first come back to the Q League and then discuss the issue.

Mr Husain said that they would soon call on PML-Functional chief Pir Pagaro, leaders of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and other political parties in Sindh this month.

He said if invited the APML could join the alliance recently formed by three League factions. Factions of the League – Unification, Likeminded and Functional – announced merger last month.

Flanked by Dr Sher Afgan Niazi, Maj-Gen Rashid Qureshi (retired), Fawad Chaudhry and Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Mr Husain said that Gen Musharraf would stage his comeback before general elections either ‘mid-term’ or ‘end-term’.

Pakistan court declares former president Musharraf a proclaimed offender
Musharraf, living in exile, is due to unveil in September his plan to join politics

Islamabad: The High Court in Pakistan’s province of Sindh issued an order to the relevant authorities to declare London-residing former Pakistan president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf a proclaimed offender.

A division bench of the court headed by its Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani issued the order during the hearing of a petition by social worker Maulvi Iqbal Haider.

The petitioner contended that a case should be filed against the former president for "violation of the constitution, illegal use of national resources, damaging the federation bringing the country into disrepute".

As several notice issued by the court in the past to Musharraf to appear before it were not complied with, the bench ordered that advertisements be placed in British and national newspapers directing Musharraf to appear before the court.

Musharraf, living in exile, is due to unveil in September his plan to join politics at the head of a political group cobbled together by his associates in the country under the nomenclature of All Pakistan Muslim League, according to the group's coordinator.

A murder case against him has been registered at a police station in Balochistan over the killing of Baloch nationalist leader and former provincial governor Nawab Akbar Bugti in an army operation in 2006.

The Supreme Court last year declared unconstitutional and illegal Musharraf's actions on November 3, 2007, when he had imposed emergency and suspended the constitution to oust judges he believed to be hostile to him.

Musharraf does not have good political instincts although a lot better than Zardari. Lal Masjid fiasco and suspension of Judges were his low points. Many in PML (N) hate him while some elements in PPP accuse him of not providing enough security to Benazir Bhutto. If Musharraf is able to return to Pakistan he will add more spice to the political mix.

Security stepped up at Pervez Musharraf's farm house near Islamabad

Place: ISLAMABAD | Agency: PTI

Though declared a proclaimed offender by a top court, elaborate security measures are being put in place at former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf's farmhouse in the city outskirts in anticipation of his return home following launching of his political party.

Musharraf, who turns 67 today, and now in self-imposed exile in London will formally initiate his political activities after the holy month of Ramadan, his close aide Fawad Chaudhry was quoted as saying by 'The News'.

Chaudhry did not give exact timings of Musharraf's return home but said, the former Pakistan dictator will brief the national and international press in the last week of September.

With the stocks of both, the ruling PPP and opposition PML-N running low, Musharraf's aides recently launched his new party All Pakistan Muslim League in anticipation of his return. His supporters are also making efforts to unite different factions of the Muslim League, not alligned to former premier Nawaz Sharief.

But, question marks on former Pakistan dictator's return have arisen after the Sindh High Court declared him a proclaimed offender for non-appearance.

Musharraf's farmhouse, located at Chak Shahzad, was not completed before he left Pakistan in April last year after a slew of criminal and legal cases were filed against him for imposing emergency and subverting the constitution during 2007.

Foolproof security arrangements are being made at the farmhouse, which is also being renovated.

"The work for renovation of the farmhouse of the former president, which was temporarily suspended because of his absence from the country, has resumed," the source said.

The source said Col Ilyas, the security officer of Musharraf, will be responsible for all security matters at the farmhouse.

A residential compound for private security guards is being built and the latest security gadgets are being installed at the residence, the source said.

Fawad Chaudhry, a close aide of Musharraf, acknowledged that the farmhouse is being renovated and said steps were being taken to improve its security as it was the residence of a high-profile personality like the former military ruler.

Musharraf will formally initiate his political activities after the holy month of Ramzan, Chaudhry said.

Musharraf will brief the Pakistani and international media about developments in the final week of September, he said.

Musharraf's aides recently launched the All Pakistan Muslim League in anticipation of the former President's return to Pakistan.

They have also made abortive attempts to unite the different factions of the Muslim League.

"The League convention, under the auspices of the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional, will prove to be a milestone in the political history of Pakistan," said Chaudhry.

However, the PML-Q has ruled out joining any party headed by Musharraf.

Musharraf also faces threats from militants, including the Taliban and other banned groups that tried to target him several times when he was the President.

He resigned in 2008 to avoid being impeached by the Pakistan People's Party-led government.

Musharraf not to come to Pakistan this year

By Hussain Kashif

LAHORE: Former president Pervez Musharraf, now residing in England, will not visit Pakistan on the launch of his newly-formed party, the All-Pakistan Muslim League (APML) in September as decided earlier, Daily Times learnt on Sunday.

According to sources close to the former president, Musharraf had decided to steer his party from London as its headquarters and he would not come to Pakistan during the current year because of some formidable challenges and serious risks he would be exposed to here.

The sources said a core team of legal and political experts was busy in finalising the manifesto of his newly-formed party and the party would be launched after Eidul Fitr in London as well as in Pakistan, Dubai and the US.

About the requirement of a party office in Dubai, the sources said Dubai and London were common places as well as political hubs for exiled or self-exiled politicians and other personalities to meet their supporters, adding therefore the party office in Dubai would be a special venue for Musharraf to meet his fans.

Regarding a party office in the US, the sources said the former president had some close friends and number of fans in Dallas and these people wanted to run a party chapter there, playing an active role in Pakistani politics through their financial, moral and political support to the party.

The All-Pakistan Muslim League was founded in Karachi in 2010. The party was registered by Barrister Saif Ali Khan and Maj Gen Rashid Quraishi in all provinces of the country. It was named after the historical politicl party of Muslims in India called the All India Muslim League, who has been credited to win independence for Pakistan from the British India.

The APML has chapters in the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and Canada. The formal announcement of the party will be made on the 14th Aig 2010 by Gen Musharraf from the United Kingdom.
