but - in terms of technology - does the 414 deal give India anything that it did not gain from the engines for the Su30MKI ? TOT for 80% of value suggests that GE will hold the most sensitive technologies for it self ??

Correct the composites are what's keeping India back , and i doubt that is part of the tot.

America has historically wrt India come swooping in with deals like such when Indian rnd was close or seems close to a breakthrough.

America will always try to squeez the best bargain and will try to diminish competition at the same time.
