It is highly unlikely that Iran did not know about Hamas's plans or that Hamas could freely carry out such a large operation without Iran's consent or approval.

If Hamas had presented their plan to Iran, don't you think Iran would have told them, "Look this is what is going to happen, Gaza will become history, don't do it, try something smaller in scope"? Nothing Iran has done so far suggests they are irrational or unintelligent. Unless their plan involves sacrificing Gaza for a greater good, they would have dissuaded Hamas.

Nah, nothing will fix this issue other than violence through a regional war. The so-called 'Oil Embargo' or lame threats by Arabs/Muslims can't do much--not another oil embargo. The issue will be resolved through a regional war to either destroy Israel or bring it to some rational compromise. I absolutely believe that's the only way, at least in our lifetime, and the long, long history of wars around Jerusalem buttress my assertion.

Not even an embargo is needed. Enough cuts to force the price to $150 or $200 will concentrate the minds of major powers. Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, etc., can handle this for a few months. The dirty little secret seems to be their unwillingness.

Nothing happening here hurts Iran. Iran is playing a very clever game given its current power in the region. Short of getting nukes This is the most Iran is able to do to serve its own interests.
