France will have to accept India’s binding conditions in MMRCA deal

India needs to seriously speed up their bureaucracy.

Half the topics being posted about today are the same topics that have been posted years ago.
@Chinese-Dragon, mate, close to $20 billion deal, involving TOT, training, weapons package, infrastructure, etc. One can't expect a decision overnight. Yes, it has taken a long, but than every deal had taken much longer be it INS Vikramaditya, or Hawks or sukhois, etc. it is just that this deal is so much in the limelight that many are thinking that it has been so long.

MOD officials are trying there best, but what can they do if the French go back on the conditions which were CLEARLY written in the RFP (like HAL will be the lead in this project)??

@acid rain , I see what you mean but given the past precedence the indien government is being a tad bit harsh not to say that your point is not valid. Look through this article in Navaltoday dating March 28,2013 so fairly recent, I know they are not related but they should still play hardball with russie not just simply France a la Dassault.

India Won’t Bill Russia for Delayed Delivery of INS Vikramaditya? >> Naval Today

Still good points raised and just $12billion dollar in itself is heck of a huge deal and I hope France does not miss this opportunity because it will be great for the Hollande's socialist government. which is not in a strong position itself. :pop:

There are a lot of pluses for French aviation and Dassault, you know what economic condition is prevalent in Europe..right? so this deal would do wonders for France's economy and its job maket. Rafale is in competition with Eurofighter and US jets all over the world market and have lost everywhere due to political pressure - India is the only country that did not succumb to all that pressure and chose Rafale - what that means is Rafale becomes established as a premier platform and has opportunities to gain other markets - which they'll not need for a decade and a half bcos they can fulfill both Indian and french requirements for a long time.

also they can continue with the research and development and improvements to the platforms now bcos the money and the market will be there for them plus a lot of inputs from the Indian aviation industry will really push the innovation faster.

Rafale will come out bigger than eurofighter if they play this right, france should be glad with this deal which do a world of good to french defense industry - just think of the off shoots from this - missiles, radars, armaments, upgrades the works all going into french industry. France will not have to worry about mmarkets for a decade and a half.

So your point that India should go soft on france like russia is not valid, its the french who need to come much more than half way bcos it will only benefit them.

India, Dassault agree to set aside divergences, move ahead in other areas

NEW DELHI: India and French firm Dassault Aviation today decided to keep aside their sharp differences over contractual obligations and move ahead on the other aspects of the deal to procure 126 multirole combat aircraft for the IAF.

During the contract negotiation committee meeting today, the two sides agreed to keep their discussions pending on the issue of having separate contracts and the role of HAL in the deal and move ahead on other things such as pricing and support services, sources told PTI here today.

Serious differences have cropped up in the contract negotiations between the Defence Ministry and the French firm, threatening to delay the country's single largest dose military acquisition.

The French firm has already agreed with the Defence Ministry's demand for having one contract with the four major firms involved in the deal, including MBDA, for the weapons package for the aircraft instead of four separate contracts, they said.

The firm is understood to have agreed to the Defence Ministry's demand on the issue after the involvement of French government.

India made its stand clear..now its Dassault's turn.actually, they must have to follow the conditions declared on RFP..I don't how they are even trying to convince India other way, after so many years of trials and testing..

I can understand France company doesn´t want held responsible for problems caused by India firms. Dassault would take an uncalculated risk otherwise.

I'm fed up with French behavior, they are a bit confused how such deals seem to work (Don't blame them, they have won nothing anywhere yet with Rafale). I seriously think that the French deal (?)needs to be capped at 126 planes & we should look at other options. I don't like the idea of being dependent on these chaps who are behaving like this even before the contract is signed & planes delivered.

Rafale. The deal will be signed this year, and the first 18 aircraft built by France will arrive in India WITHIN 36 months!

What would India do here?
Nothing but meekly come up with middle ground and cough up some more dollars as they did in Vikramadatiya case with Russia. They paid exorbitant price, despite having water tight agreement on price. Now its time for France to do the same sh*t and get away with few more millions. Of course they know Indian mentality that these Indians would cave in. Becase, as in any deal, India must have paid 10% or so deposit (as was in westland agusta). And once they have it they are already safe. For India to go against france in ICJ, never ever think on these lines my friend.
