France planning to build and DOMINATE EU Army, Nato claims as nation neglects duties

Ok, let us compare UK and French military engine tech as you think France is as good as UK in this area

EJ-2000(UK): T/W ratio = 9.3:1
M-88(France): T/W ratio = 8.5:1

See the French engine is a lot less powerful per unit of weight than the UK one.

But it can be improoved any moment, just that the French don't want to invest because they find it uneccesary. They told the Emiratis that they can deliver a better M88 but on Arab money. The EJ 2000 is funded by a host of EU nations,France burdened the Rafale alone.

French company Safran, which manufactures the M88 engine of the Dassault Rafale fighter aircraft plans to increase its thrust from 7.5 tone to nine tons.

La Tribune newspaper said yesterday quoting CEO of Safran, Philippe Petitcolin that, the engine upgrade in terms of thrust was necessary as the Rafale had grown heavier over the years due to addition of weapons and other systems.

He said that the original thrust of the Rafale engine was the same since the launch of the French fighter. The Rafale was designed over two decades ago.

However, the upgrade issue had not been discussed with Dassault Aviation, the Safran CEO added.

"It is time to ask the question whether it is appropriate to launch a study that would increase the engine thrust. Technically we can do. We are in discussion with the relevant authorities to see if possible. and if so, under what conditions and at what level of performance, it would be desirable to improve it, said Philippe Petitcolin (the quote has been translated from French).

He disclosed that the UAE which was considering to buy the fighter a few years ago had asked that the engine thrust be increased between eight to nine tons before abandoning the project.

The UAE and France have since renewed talks to buy the Rafale after its recent success in Egypt and Qatar and its selection by India.

So can the EJ-2000 dude.

Like to compare civilian engine tech now?

I know you have this dream of a great United States of Europe but let us face it, it needs the UK and Germany to supply the cutting-edge technology to be able to compete with the US and in future the Chinese.

With the US maybe as they're in a league of their own but I don't see China getting ahead, not now,nor in the immediate future.

US is 300+ million,China 1.3 billion,it's only natural for the smaller EU nations to pull resources together.

Not now for China, but post 2030 their technology will be world class.

Anyway I have made my point now - thought I would educate people as I found the title a little funny to say the least.

ROFL,you educated nobody claiming things without any sources or anything to back them and making pure speculations.

@Vauban

What would italias role in this? Military is an important aspect. We lost trust in NATO and i think we would gain from this. But "french leadership" sounds not good for me. An italian soldier takes italian orders. Not french.

There are only one way EU Army (or EU Battlegroup) would be fine is as if the Bulk of EU get off their arse and start invest into their military.

It never the initiative is the problem but the government don't want to do anything about it. if we uses EU resource today to form a battlegroup centralised only on EU member, they won't be able to fight expeditionary war. For a long time, EU geared their military in defensive mode, and basically EU lost all its offensive edge long time ago, also the dependence of American intervention means they lack their will to really put their money and effort into military industry.

Unless EU is united enough and serious enough to develop their military strength, EU Army is not a good idea.

A powerful army can be build up from any industrialial nation in a very short time span. Just look at germany. In a just a couple of years it went from a marginal security force after WW I to get the most powerful army in the world.

In today's world it takes years to induct new platforms, train new troops. If they get started today, they can have a EU Army by 2030.

War never changes. Be it rome or today. Germany has the platforms and just has to multiplicate them.

Germany is nothing else then a puppet of the USA. France plays in an other league. Independent in all technologies. Mention one technology France is not able to to produce. Stellar ships ?

Germany leads in technology and science.

One technology?

Stellerator fusion for example.

Right mate. Germany has a very high level not to be underestimated. But they are puppets of the USA.

You mentioned Max-Planck Institute project ?

For a puppet germany acts pretty independend. Stopping USA from sending heavy weapons to ukraine. Interfering in delivering weapons to US backed "rebels".

Basic fact is, that germany is unmatched globally in most fields of science and engineering. And i say this as italian.

Independent ? US listened German politicians within their intimate life. Do you believe in it what you write ?
Begging Turkey to operate some RECCE - Tornados ?
Maybe industrial independent, but they will drowned within "refugees" and loose their identity .

The refugee wave is stopped. There live more foreigners in russia than in germany.

Beslan anyone?

I must always laugh when someone talks about losing "identity". Germany is a culture nation 2000 years old. You believe this miniscule events europe faces right now equal older events? You must be pretty idiotic to believe so.
