France invoked article 42.7 of the Lisbon treaty

The Lisbon treaty is about EU members.EU members are not obliged to help everyone out there but they have to help other EU members by treaty.

Not that a treaty should make a EU member help another one after a tragedy like Paris,it is also a moral duty.
If by the treaty, NATO gets involved in which turkey is a full member then it would be selfishness to say the least since the ''moral duty'' wasnt invoked then Turkey was bombed not just onces but twice, and the culprits were said to be the same people or Kurds whom America supports. To be honest it only looks like clash of interests rather then ''moral duty'' or treaty.

Key word here is NATO and interests as well as intent.

These treaties, solidarity messages, etc... are nice things. :)

It all comes down to the ground operation against ISIS.....

Nope, it means more meetings and solidarity messages. :meeting:

Ground operations should be left to the neighbouring countries or the Syrians themselves.

I see alot of chest tumping in here from some members about how great their military is but can you imagine what it would be like if France had ISIS as its direct southern neighbour ? It surely wouldn't stand at the border looking dumb ! Can you imagine if Syria would have been France's neighbour and they would have shot down a French jet ? Now....these things surely demand a ground operation from a truly powerfull military.

.
When turks were bombed i didnt saw anyone talking abt this.......

Why r western European lives more important then Eastern European ones?

Erdogan has done everything possible to strengthen the hands of Daesh. He has launched a vicious campaign against the Kurds who are in the frontline against Daesh fighters. What sympathy do you expect for a government like that?

France asked for help, and the United Europe answered YES ! UE members are behind us and will do everything they can to help.

Let them bark, they do not know what united means. :meeting:

.
We know very well what yr ''united'' means to be honest and Frank Raynald would like to disagree with u.

We already had defeated yr unity in the 11-12 century of Crusades.

Dont forget that, and dont teach us abt yr fragile concepts of unity.

We have a saying goes like "If my aunt had a mustache, she would be my uncle".... :)

Neighbouring countries don't want to any risks by themselves and they are not going to to anything by themselves. :coffee:

i understand that it was an off topic comment hence i didnt quote the french guy directly in my post but ensured its posted directly after his comment. It was response to his gibe of ''unity'' mocking at us. I gave him French Frank Raynald's example for a reason.

Look i do fel sorry for them, but what is said and done dont seem to be in line of any ''moral duty'' as u said.

I am up for joint bombing and military intervention on the lines of alied WW 2 by every leading military as a coalition it should also include Israel,Egypt and India pool their resources.

If it wasn't for Russian intervention in Syria India would've joined France in air strikes.
