What's new

Luxembourg "increases" its presence in Mali.... sends a second soldier !

All of you fools have missed the most important question.

What the hell was the first soldier doing in mali all by himself until now?

.
I want to modifiy my first post, but i couldn't so here's an update.

@Penguin @mike2000 is back @Abingdonboy @flamer84 @waz @bobo6661 @Bundeswehr @Nihonjin1051

First,i think that we shouldn't joke about Luxembourg (I myself shouldn't) of course their contribution seems ridiculous, but when we think about the size of their armed forces, their country etc... it's heartwarming. (When you consider that others did almost nothing...)

UK : The deployment of the Royal Navy's ship to escort the French aircraft carrier was planned way before the attacks in Paris. The Brits also planned (way before the attacks) to deploy more jets to Cyprus as they were planning to start their airstrikes in Syria.
-
Belgium : As the UK,Belgium sending a frigate to escort the French aircraft carrier was planned way before the attacks on Paris.
-
Germany : As above, they planned to send a ship to escort the French aircraft carrier way before the attacks on Paris.
The Germans decided to send (after the appeal of Paris...) an MRTT (which is the most useful thing someone provided us...) and Tornados, only for reconnaissance missions.which was the same in Afghanistan, but the tons of photos weren't really that useful to the ISAF...
They decided to send 600 soldiers to Mali to participe in the MINUSMA,but will not relieve the French forces....

@Taygibay I feel a little bit bad for JYLD,as he was the one trying hard to push for an European defence, but sadly c'est raté. I appreciate his efforts though.

With the mess we got now in poland after the new party won dont think any help soon form here. And be happy the NF didnt win you could have the same mess in your country.

What's happening in Poland ? :undecided:

Well, raté/missed opportunity. maybe not! I wouldn't go that far. Not only is it not finished ( the case application thereof )
but it will only have fallen short if nothing comes out of it! Suppose that there is some kind of follow-through at
some near future Eurodef-schmilblick summit and the next time, it actually works? Or a pool of forces is set up?
Etc.
We're talking politics here, la permanence de l'action* is counted in decades, my poor fellow!
*
Permanence of action is a ludicrous porte-manteau meant to excuse the absence of results in flowery socio-political terms.
I.E. results will come ... All worthwhile actions should be permanently activated of course or try to stop breathing for just fun.

What's happening in Poland ? :undecided:

They have a new government that is trying to change their political choices especially recent ones.
In our mil context, the Caracal contract at 50 machines and possible options would be down to a
big dozen, maybe 16.
For Polish service members, this attitude forebears procurement delays and worse which they'd rather not?

G'day mec, Tay.

The new goverment is making a grab for more power ignoring the Constitutional Court and placing its people everywhere in the state aparatus. In fact it's not really a big deal, everyone does that when gets in power in Eastern Europe but the new goverment is strongly anti Germany, anti EU,anti immigration so,naturally, the EU will call them fascists and it's asking for sanctions.Fortunately, you need an unanimous vote for sanctions to happen and Romania,Hungary,Slovakia will veto sanctions against Poland.Tough luck for the Merkel broad and her EU cronies.
