After the cowards attakcs in Paris,France invoked EU's article 42.7,which means all EU members have to help MILITARLY a member after that it has been attacked.

UK : Sent a destroyer that joined the French battlegroup.
Belgium : Sent a frigate (50% of their fleet....) that joined our battlegroup.
Luxembourg : Sends a second soldier to Mali,just for training......
Germany : Sends some Tornado for reconnaissance missions,a tanker and 1.200 troops..... + ~680 troops in Mali to replace the Dutch soldiers... (Peacekeeping mission....)
Wooa.
Why didn't we invoke NATO's article 5 instead,at least the US would have provided the help needed.

Luxembourg is to send a second soldier to Mali to help in the fight against the Islamic State, in response to an appeal for solidarity from France.
According to AFP, the Grand Duchy will send an additional soldier to working on the EU training mission in Mali in early 2016.
The individual will advise the Malian armed forces. Luxembourg also offers strategic transport capabilities managed by NATO as well as contributing financially to the Malian army's fight against extremism.
The country has also pledged 2 million euros to the Malian military to help in the fight against extremism. These funds will be used for training and equipment, medical materials and to support projects that work to prevent the radicalisation of children and their recruitment as soldiers.
Following the deadly attacks in Paris on November 13, France called took advantage of a clause in the Lisbon treaty, which says the victim of an attack can call for assistance from other countries.

Seriously though, this is a complete joke.
The problem is that Europe is far too insular these days and focusing on issues at home and any "action" they take to show "solidarity" with France is merely for external consumption and on a superfical level with no substance behind it.
Purely political about the 42.7. It was a case of using the crisis to further Euro Defense.
It seems to be a failure for now ...

Well our forces are still engage even in Afghanistan, Iraq, and now Syria. Though its a far cry from this past decade when we had tens of thousands of soldiers involved in fighting in the region and other conflict zones, even though we are not officially at war anymore, but our forces are still engaged in active combat in these hotspots.

Anyway, at least we provided intelligence, logistical and military help to France in its operation s in Mali. Plus we also deployed over 300 special forces/soldiers in the country to provide training and coordinate operations against Islamist groups in the country.

Plus, you should note that our public and even some politicians are very against Great Britain getting involve in anymore wars overseas. As the Syrian crisis showed, Britain is becoming more and more wary of getting involve in foreign wars. Reason even our help to France in Mali was limited to providing as much support as we can without explicitly getting involve in fighting directly on the front lines. since this will have caused a lot of problems/headache to our leaders, as many MPs/opposition would have began questioning/accusing the government of getting involved in yet another war without Parliamentary/public approval/consent and bla bla bla.
The hell even the U.S didn't get actively involve in fighting in Mali because of similar reasons. They simply provided the same intelligence,logistics,training,military support like we did. The reason for the U.S/U.K taking a less aggressive role unlike France these past years as i said before is because of the U.S/U.K led Iraq and Afghanistan wars which was very unpopular, so they are both very careful in getting involved in any foreign wars/conflicts today unlike France who doesn't have such a baggage hanging on its head/conscience.
If any European country EVER dares to ask for French army's support,i hope we only send 2 cooks...... just to see their reactions....
Europe is all talk and no actions... Sadly.
