He is the founding Managing Director of UBINIG (Policy Research for Development Alternative) a policy research and advocacy group working as an integral part of the community with the grassroots people to strengthen common resistance against the dominant processes of globalisation as well as creating space for strategic negotiations whenever possible. As a principle UBINIG avoids both “populism” and “anarchism”– two dominant ideologies of grassroots “development” paradigms one faces in Bangladesh. UBINIG is working all over Bangladesh in the field of agriculture, biodiversity and food security. He is also the initiator of Nayakrishi Andolon, an movement of thousands of Bangladeshi farmers to stop using pesticides, chemicals and unsustainable technologies. Among other major areas of work are handloom weaving, trade union education, population and health issues, etc. UBINIG is active in many international and National & International networks.

On this forum I've already been certified as both r$azakar and awami thug by some members. It doesn't matter, I don't care it. If you have logic, you'll simply break mine rather than certifying me with glorious title.

well someone called me razakkar in this thread already.. On the other hand " REAL" ( by real i mean those who are still loyal to pakistan, not anti Indians like Luffy) Razaakars called me dalal ---

@kobiraaz bro, ami kintu 71 ke, ekta political mistake hishabe dekhi. :D It was a disaster that could have been avoided IMO. If for this hammarian thugs call be names then so be it. But as a muslim I also believe in Allah(swt) will & that whatever he does is for the best. I love this country that Allah(swt) blessed me with and look forward to the future. :)

I know now this man, often see him as supporting bnp on television.
Well said actually most of the people have no self respect, as here can be seen ppl supporting slang languages of one person.

You are talking like Awami street level thug and with their understanding. This is a man of principle and grassroot level activist and has no political association. He stand up against injustice and stand up with just cause. This man was sent to jail by BNP regime in 1996 and by no means any part of BNP.

Kalu bhai is one of the few knowledgeable and original posters on pdf- but largely misunderstood one too. Unfortunately I don't see him much here nowadays.

Actually he speaks sense and respects others opinion. I believe we should support his forum by posting there as well.

Thanks for the good words guys.

One reason I am not very active is I consider this kind of political bickering a waste of time. I believe more in grass root activism like Farhad Mazhar has been doing for decades. The positive changes he has already made on the ground will be remembered by people of Bangladesh, even when he is no longer with us.

I know many of you who take part here and others who do not participate in the discussion, but lurk silently, feel strongly about doing something for the country, but cannot find any opportunity for positive contribution. My dream is to find ways for such people to become active and make positive contributions, so they do not have to waste too much of their free time in useless activities that goes on here.

Every time, I come here, I know that our collective time is being wasted, instead of doing productive work that will make a difference.
