Foreigners don’t like Muslims, only their money: Turkish President Erdoğan

I dont. What is he up to?

For each month his public speeches resemble the fake wannabe Arab Mullah's in Iran more. Some of the speeches are frighteningly similar.

Is that not obvious? He is part of the MB and their friends. He is interested in a Islamic (MB-like) rise in the Muslim world (mostly the Arab world since it is next door to Turkey) with him at the helm. Hence the big focus on events in the Arab world. Historically no Muslim ruler of any significance could aspire to lead the Muslim world without controlling/allying with the Arab world.

Turkish nationalism will for obvious reasons never work among non-Turks. So he can't play that card. Instead he uses religion.

I am just surprised that he is not trying to support MB like movements among his Turkic friends in Central Asia. Such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan etc. Probably too far away and too weak countries under Russian influence by large.

Erdogan is a populist. Such people can succeed in the ME and in the Muslim world. In the West not so much.

I don't think that he is interested in doing Arabs any favors regardless of having a Turkish Arab wife or all his speeches. But I might be wrong. Nor have I commented about his internal policy. I am only interested in his moves in the Arab world.

You think he wants a Sultanate(in a form) with him the Leader?

Doubtful that it will ever work. Saudi Arabia and Egypt are far too significant players now to ever let Turkey take any form of leadership of the Arab world.

Didn't know there was a Ummah consituency in Turkey....
He seems to play them pretty good !
Just your average politician albeit a successful one !

honest question al hasani
france ,enland, america likes s.arabians ? or do they love your oil

I do not care about them outside of France for my part. Why should they love us? Who are we to them? We don't love them and we don't expect them to love us. Likewise they do not love you Turks or any other Muslims. But is that only Muslims? You think that they love Indians? Chinese? Pakistanis? Iranians? Africans? South Americans? Russians? Or even other Europeans?

Politics is about mutual interests. KSA tries to have ties with all countries. We do not care about whether you are a so-called democracy or not. We can have good ties with the West and China (our biggest trading partner) simultaneously which many here do not understand.

As a person with both Muslims and Christians in my family (including even Atheists) I am not interested in starting any conflict among the Muslim world and non-Muslim world. We have conflicts enough. Besides for each year there goes our differences will get smaller. It's inevitable in a globalized world.

Misnomer?

Most of the Muslim countries are poor, where is da money?
Failed states?
Most are Muslim countries, where is da money?

No, the times of Arabs ruling the Ummah for 1000 years and the Turks for 400 years (as Caliphs) are long gone. The only remaining Sultan (an Arabic title) is in Oman and he is apparently close to dying so don't expect anything like that. A shame as he is one of the more sane rulers out there.

No regional power has any influence of significance in the Arab world. It's the US and so far we are their allies or at least our leaders are their allies but most people have little against the US in the GCC at least outside of the conservatives but even some of them are hypocrites in this department. Also we can gain more from the US right now than what we can from most other partners so I am not complaining and support our policy of having ties with almost all countries. This is politics not a biker club. It's all about interests.

Anyway most of the ME as a whole is a messed up region with bad leaders. I hope that it will be different if I live long enough to experience that.

What the Muslim world can learn from Turkey and Erdogan is his internal policies. Mainly economy etc. but it must be said that Turkey always had that potential but it was just neglected for decades shockingly. So I am not even sure that Erdogan is the main reason. I think that any clever leader could have achieved something similar.

Anyway in the ME you need to have a balance between religion and secularism. Even in countries that are not "democratic" in the Muslim world you see the same fight everywhere. People wanting more religion and people wanting less.

I am looking at Erdogan from an Arab perspective as I am an Arab and not a Turk nor a Turkish citizen so if I am being egoistic here his internal policies is not my problem or matter. And what I see is not something I am a big fan of nor do I think that he has sincere motives. Other than power.

I don't like Erdogan that much but I don't think he is talking for "all muslims" he is just talking for himself and for his country.

I think he is pointing towards what is happening in Syria. The west is only willing to help a country if it has oil. For a country like Syria without natural resources. They just let the people die.

I think he is right in this regard. This doesn't mean I'm a fan of the guy. I judge the argument. Not the person. This also has nothing to do with wanting a calpih. He is just angry at the west for failing in Syria and inaction of NATO and US in particular. Turkey and US still can't agree on a no fly zone.

I think it doesn't matter if you are muslim or not muslim. It hard to imagine what is happening in Syria. Some Arab nationalist are trying to make a point here but I think they don't fully understand what is going on In Syria. Leave self-profit aside for a second.

The West are not angels and we all know that. Yet such comments are not doing any favors to anyone. Turkey is a NATO member state. You can't play on two horses at one time. Envisaging yourself as the "savior of the Muslim world" and then being a NATO member while criticizing "the evil West". You can't make hours long speeches on how evil the Zionists are while your government increases trade with the same Zionists. Nobody takes people like that seriously. Unless they are simpletons.

From what I know about Turkish society and what I have seen among the Turkish users on PDF you can be divided into 3 fractions. Roughly.

1) The nationalists who outside of being Turkish nationalists also want increasing ties with the 5-6 Turkic states in the world. Secularism is very important for them.

2) AKP supporters that also claim the nationalist banner (who does not in Turkey after Ataturk) but they mainly view the world from an Islamic perspective. Secularism is less important for them and they are often against laws such as those that banned scarfs etc. Some of them also want Turkey to have a leading role in the Muslim world and become the leader. If not all.

3) People who want closer ties with the EU and the West at the expense of their own neighborhood.

That fight is also seen in Turkish politics. PDF Is a reflection of that. Some fractions interlope which each other but that's roughly my take on it.

I might be wrong here.
