Have the Saudis officially protested? If No let us not make a mountain out of a molehill. Period!
On a personal note, there is no denying the fact that FM Quershi has remained in a quarrel with the Saudi government over their constant meddling and stopping OIC over Kashmir. He has been very vocal about it.

. .
First of all the title is misleading. He is not the counterpart but rather the Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan. So the Saudi Ambassador saw the sole of Pakistani FMs expensive hand made English shoes, what’s the big deal (I know the Arab etiquette about this) The FM is not stupid, he knows the protocol. He knows what he is doing. The location is the FM’s office and the photographer was from the foreign office. The photograph was intentionally published. There is a message here. Live with it. If it was not for countries like Pakistan, MBS would be sitting in the lap of Israel like their Emirati cousins.
He should apologise and life goes on !
No need to.

Saudis took to social media to express their disapproval of the Pakistani FM's seating position stating his demeanor was 'the height of foolishness and ignorance'.

Saudis have spoken of their outrage over the "insulting" seating position of Pakistan's foreign minister during a meeting with his Saudi counterpart on Tuesday.

Social media users in the kingdom slammed Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi for his posture when he received his Saudi counterpart, Nawaf bin Said al-Malki, in Islamabad.

Qureshi can be seen sitting with one leg crossed and the other pointing in Al-Malki's direction, which was deemed offensive by many Saudis.

The ministers met to discuss current events in the region and "review bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries", according to the Saudi Embassy in Pakistan.

But Saudis and Arabs saw the meeting in a different light.

"Pakistani foreign minister receives Saudi ambassador in Pakistan with unmatched hospitality," said one user.

"If there is no strong reason (medical) for the Pakistani foreign minister to receive the kingdom's ambassador in this way, then this is the height of impudence and foolishness and ignorance of the basics of diplomatic protocol," one Twitter user said. "Frankly, if I were one of the Saudi ambassadors, I would have left,"

Another social media user wrote: "Rude, thoughtless and undiplomatic behaviour of the [Pakistani] Minister of Foreign Affairs towards the [Saudi] ambassador... admired how he kept silent about this insult!"

Others compared the "insulting" way Qureshi received Al-Malki to his "polite" demeanour while receiving other officials.

The Saudi Embassy posted a zoomed-in video of the encounter where Qureishi's foot is not visible.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have deep diplomatic and military ties, but the countries' relations have been strained in recent years after Islamabad reportedly refused a request by Riyadh to contribute troops to the Yemen war.

It is indecent posture.

But new styles are emerging too ..

SMQ is definitely wrong here. He cannot plead cultural ignorance. Even in Pakistan this would be considered rude.

From the way he's looking down and talking, it looks like he's very tired and worried, and wasn't really thinking about his posture. He also seems to have quite an informal relationship with the ambassador.

But he should have known that the camera was rolling.

I think he should apologize for the oversight.

If someone sit infront of me like this i will be pissed too. And he is FM

I am not a big supporter of Arabs but here they are right, minister should learn to behave, the ambassador is not your Mureed and you are not his PIR.

i was on Dubai airport, was in a hurry for a connecting flight and dropped my long coat off my hand carry. when i found it missing i returned to look for it. now it was needed for the place i was going to land.

i saw three staff members and asked about it. that Arab girl among them inquire about it for color and brand etc. then she gave bring it out and gave it to me by saying "why are you so worried about it, it is just a jacket" trying to belittle me that i am worried about a tiny thing. i just left by saying thanks.

Arabs are ignorant,

but diplomatic norms are important and must be followed.

If a western country is dependent on Saudi loan the way Pakistan is then maybe they would say something. The bigger problem here is with Pakistan that has soo much external debt along with pathetic amount reserves, due to which it had to get 3bn from Saudi just a few weeks ago. Had Saudi not given this 3bn, only god knows what the value of rupee might have been right now.

EXACTLY!..........So we NEED to get out of this mess.

maybe fm was showing the label under his shoe, hand made in pakistan by peasants we rob everyday would you like to buy a pair mr oily arabi.
