It has been claimed in another thread that the vast majority of Pakistanis believe 9/11 was orchestrated by shady Western forces as a casus belli, and that it was not terrorists.

I'm interested in finding out if this is true. Please limit comments to beliefs in conspiracy... the goal is not to hash out for the 1,000th time any evidence, but to simply inspect the "conspiracy phenomenon" in general.

Again, please do not post evidence, or theories on the attack itself. I'm hoping to investigate the phenomenon of conspiracy theories, the "how" and "why" of peoples' beliefs.

Actually I will be highly surprised if any less than 70% believe that 9/11 attacks were not an inside job.

But Pakistanis do not need to apologize for this or feel bad about it. Westerners routinely believe in conspiracy theories themselves. Iraq having WMDs, Iran developing nukes, Iran supporting groups in Iraq and Afghanistan, Pakistan supporting Taliban, etc, are for the most part conspiracy theories. And there are new ones created on demand. So westerners are in no position to point fingers at others for believing in conspiracy theories. The only reason why westerners seem to claim a moral superiority ground is because their media and government have a big voice and they repeat these conspiracy theories over and over again, which makes them sound like facts. Thus the people there delude themselves into believing that they themselves are not making conspiracy theories, and others are making conspiracy theories.

Welp, my parents are in denial about 9/11. My dad mentions Jews and how they control the media, etc etc.

My uncle works in the pentagon as head of the defense database administration, and he tries to convince him otherwise, but you can't argue with someone whos in denial.
