What's new

For LCA Tejas, it’s now about months, not decades

Actually the idea is to fill the gaps and that's why they are pushing for Tejas...however at some stage they would be forced to take a call given Rafael deal will take time(apart from 36) and Migs are going to retire in 6 years...that doesn't leave you will lot of time or options....
Increase production capacity.

. . .
Isn't FOC condition laid down by Air force ? So if it clears FOC why not induct more numbers.
they will however just check the number of MK1 that are on order..Its the MK2 which IAF is after...DRDO needs to buck up on that front..

From what i can make out Mk1 in current FOC configuration is excellent replacement for Mig 21.

Well you just don't replace for the sake of replacing...obviously you want to replace with a better machine..however one needs to quantify what features and at what cost..as per IAF they are looking for MK2 as a replacement and MK1 was honestly forced upon(rightly so) by MOD so that Tejas program can mature....but then we just can't replace hundreds of fighter planes with some plane that your Air-Force doesn't want...no??

.
It seems the per piece cost of LCA has gone up ....may be more stuff is being imported to speed up the project completion, leading to escalation in cost to end user!

You need to have your requirements clear , to seek more and more mid way of a project causes catastrophic failure.

no doubt about it..DRDO has been at fault and so does IAF...however country's defense requirements can't be kept on ransom for it....Anyhow i believe it is good to put pressure on DRDO as well...high time they work like professionals...

You can order more mk1 and setup big Production line which can be later used for Mk2 when its design and trials are completed.

Jf17 is indigenous just like Tejas is indigenous.
55% Thunder is manufactured in Pakistan.
And Tejas? I guess 100% manufactured in India except French design. American engine, Israeli radar, Russians weaponry and Swedish support in design improvement :woot:

U guys just lost ''mother of all deals'' and now r getting angry on Thunder ............... I highly recommend bernol:cheesy:
Validate the claim, From what I have seen PAC does not have the capability to fabricate the fuselage, internal wing panels, External wing skin, the engine, The radar is imported, the hydraulic actuators, the fiber optic spine, servo valves, Main landing gear, Nose landing gear, and tyres for the aircraft also seem imported. I haven't seen any sub contractors or suplier information for PAC that suggests any subcontracting of mentioned items.

PAC Kamra, does have a very imressive, final hangar with fixture assemblies for assmbly of the aircraft, and thus it seems like it is assembling JF17's from CKD kits from CAC.

If otherwise, please let us know.
