Football in the Indian subcontinent?

Yeah!the Sri Lankans are the only ones in the sub continent who are good at rowing....other then the League or Union.Saw a Lankan boat near the harbour, they rowed it all the way from Lanka in a record time

Perfecto !!!!

Actually SL quite good at Rowing as well.. Infact given the limited talent pool with relative smaller population i'd say they are the most athletic sporting nation in South Asia

If there is a competition for breeding.. We all know which country will win hands down.. :victory:

Quite agree.

As for Rugby we are second only to Japan (the world cup playing nation) in Asia. If we can put enough effort we can even beat Japan.

Please edit the title as the sub continent is no longer in existence since greater india no longer exists to which the title was attributed. Cheers!

Not really Both South Korea and Hong Kong are ahead of by a margin.. But Lanka is improving rapidly with the game becoming professional now

Rugby Union is growing rapidly in Pakistan.. They play in the Div IV.. But improving well

The biggest woe for SL rugby is that we do not receive good financial support. All the money and support goes to that good for nothing Cricket nowadays.

There never was a Greater India. It was called India & still is .

There is a need to reconcile to Geography . BTW how about the Indian Ocean - does that too need to be changed because Pakistan does not ' appreciate' it ?!!!

Actually the SLRFU is receiving a lot of money these days.. The new committee is doing a good job.. Rugby is the most popular domestic game on the island atm.. Cricket is more popular only at international level.. Thousands attend domestic club and school rugby matches.. So sponsors are clamouring to get in, Which argues well for the sport

The ocean is fine and please let not make this just about Pakistan, rather sad statement that one. I believe the correct geographic term is South Asia.

Lets just stick to South Asia.. Then nobody need to get their panties in a twist

Absolutely in agreement.

India sucks at rugby...!

Yeah... the financial climate has improved recently but it has not reached the bottom level of the sporting community. But overall the outlook has improved but the old mentality of our people to label rugby as hooligans game as not died yet. :)

South Asia is a term relating to Political boundaries ( like East Asia, Asia Minor, West Asia etc).

Indian Subcontinent relates to Geographical entity :
Indian Plate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"The India Plate or Indian Plate is a tectonic plate that was originally a part of the ancient continent of Gondwana from which it split off, eventually becoming a major plate. About 55 to 50 million years ago it fused with the adjacent Australian Plate. It is today part of the major Indo-Australian Plate, and includes most of South Asia – i.e., the Indian subcontinent – and a portion of the basin under the Indian Ocean, including parts of South China and Eastern Indonesia, and extending up to but not including Ladakh, Kohistan and Balochistan "
