They will not keep this date... if they do it will be a half baked plane given to IAF.
At 1350 km/hr it is just beyond mach1.
The 50 yr old mig 21 it is supposed to replace is capable of Mach 2.
The payload capacity was initially advertised at 4 tons-- now that is down to 3.

Nobody
in the country has a problem with indigenisation. The problem is
HAL/DRDO cannot use "Home Made" as a cover for their toxic incompetence
and inefficiency.
The biggest loser will be the nation.

lets just say a CAG audit of ADA,HAL and DRDO is needed along with a CBI investigation as to how much funding these crooks have scammed and hidden in offshore bank accounts.

The Making of Core of A Jet Engine is most Secretive Tech Till date. Russians were gifted Rolls Royce Nene Engine. Till date have seen Russian send their Turbine Jet Engine for Overhaul at 1500 Hours Whereas Western engines 5-6000 Hrs....

Well said, we indeed helped the Russians in their engine tech in the beginning by gifting them our Nene engines and it took some time for them to be able to study them/learn from them to come out/produce a reliable/powerful engine(even though theirs still lag those of the U.K/U.Sor even France). So i think we should give India more time in this aspect, as Rome wasnt built in one day. You have to start from somewhere, else you will never progress in the first place. I repeat again, No country will ever transfer their Engine tech to you NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU PAY FOR IT. So india shouldn't count on our TOT/aid/JV in thsi field , since it will never happen. India seems to always be looking out for the short cut. It can work with fighters jet, but when it comes to Engines forget it. Its the jewel of any country out there, and will never be shared.

Anyway good luck to India with its Tejas LCA. i know it still has a long way to go(as the IAF seems not to want to induct it), but at least it gave you people a little knowledge/experience in building/producing fighter jets, which isnt an easy task, since only a few countries of which the U.S, U.K, France, Germany, Russia, China and i believe to some extent Sweden are/have been able to produced reliable operational fighter jets indigenously without foreign help. So India trying to break into this club is in itself a great achievemnt which shouldnt be mocked, but applauded despite the delays/short comings. Not many country can do this.

This plane is just a point interceptor. Which means that it's a backup plane to intercept enemy fighters once India's top of the line imports are all wiped out.

It also means that if any plane violates airspace the interceptors are sent.
