Filipino officials ban Chinese diplomat amid spat

It's the American system of government that works. Nobody is saying that elected officials themselves are all saints! Yet justice does take time. Can you suggest improvements? That's the American Experiment.

Good article, thank you!
China's corruption is so bad that he has no choice but to try to distract attention from China.

I consider that a compliment. Do they really teach about the Mayflower Compact in China?

Do your own homework. But don't forget that a good five-paragraph essay begins by telling the reader exactly what you are trying to prove.

As extensive reading material, yes, in chinese translation of course.

I think by you not answering me directly, i already made my point. the democracy you just described exists only in a classroom, not even in the actual history of america itself.

Michelle Obama getting paid $274K per year...Rahm Emanuel gets paid $16M...Dick Cheney named CEO of Haliburton without ever reading a balance sheet in his entire life.
I don't know about the first two histories, but Dick Cheney made a name for himself as an extremely competent executive long before he was hired at Halliburton. I'm certain he had read many balance sheets by then. So in my mind the other two histories you cite are suspect and your personal credibility has been damaged.

The difference between US corruption and Chinese corruption:

In China the average citizen can afford to pay off at least some corrupt officials.
In the US the average citizen can't afford to pay off even 1, only big corporations can.

So that is why Stanley Williams, author of childrens books but a former gangster, got a needle in the arm, for killing 4 people.

But BP killed 14 in refinery explosion in 2005, and killed another 11 in 2010 Deepwater Horizon explosion, and their executives are offered gigantic bonuses.

Cause there are no industrial accidents in China? And every time there is one, the CEO and the executives of the companies involved get sacked right? That was a pretty naive statement buddy.

We do have corruption in the U.S., but the only cases I've discovered where people got away without public or legal scrutiny is when they were low-level officials like electrical inspectors or permit officials. (One was a safety violation, the other violated development guidelines.)

Presumably Williams was convicted in a fair trial for his crime. BP officials may be subjected to the same, if one can show that they acted out of criminal intent or negligence (though it is rare for convicted criminals to be executed for non-violent crimes.)

ASDF F-15 and pilot missing in the East China Sea

By ALEX MARTIN
Staff writer
An Air Self-Defense Force F-15 fighter from the Naha Air Base in Okinawa Prefecture apparently went down Tuesday morning in the East China Sea during a training flight and the pilot is listed as missing, Defense Ministry officials in Tokyo said.

The ASDF and Maritime Self-Defense Force have discovered what appears to be pieces of an aircraft floating near the area where radar contact with the fighter was lost.

The F-15J disappeared from radar around 10:33 a.m. over the sea approximately 185 km northwest of the Naha base while it was engaging in a training mission with three other F-15s, Defense Ministry officials said.

"We are currently investigating the details of the accident, and doing everything we can to search for the missing pilot. We will provide continuous updates on any discoveries we find," Shigeru Iwasaki, ASDF chief of staff, said in a prepared comment.

The missing pilot as identified as Maj. Yuji Kawakubo, 37, a veteran with more than 3,000 hours of flight time, including 1,700 in F-15s.

Kawakubo was engaging in combat drills with the other fighters when his plane went down.

ASDF officials said they have found no evidence to suggest he managed to eject.

The other fighters spotted the floating debris at 10:46 a.m. The missing plane's tail fin was discovered at 11:12 a.m. by an MSDF P-3 patrol aircraft and an ASDF rescue aircraft.

At 11:39 a.m. the rescue aircraft discovered a speed brake and portions of a tail.

While the reason behind the accident remains unknown, ASDF officials said it was "highly likely" the F-15 crashed into the sea.

I quoted a comment on the article.

And don't forget the "soft" corruption of nepotism and favoritism.

E.g., Michelle Obama getting paid $274K per year as University of Chicago Hospital's VP of "Community and External Affairs". A position so mission critical, it was eliminated when she left.

Rahm Emanuel gets paid $16M in two and half years on Wall Street without any experience in finance.

Dick Cheney named CEO of Haliburton without ever reading a balance sheet in his entire life.

And it goes on and on...

And no matter how you connect the dots, it all comes back sucking on the government teat one way or another.

I never said there were none. Corruption is a severe problem in China. I'm just reminding AmeriKKKans that corruption is not limited to China, and in fact, the US because it is richer and more developed should be held to a higher standard.

that's the beauty of the american way of corruption, what we consider bribery is called donation and legalized, people in china can only buy corrupt officials in the hope of getting away from prosecution, while the billionaires in US can buy the right to both administration and legislation, legally.

I find it hard to believe the reality of Vietnamese anti-Chinese sentiments when they themselves have Chinese genes in their makeup.

Hard to believe ??Oh, we fought with CHIna thousand years already and always have glorious victory.Even when the world (including poor China) dominated and massacred by Mongolian, we still defeated this mighty aggressor 3 times.

We want a true independence, if any one try to take it away, we will fight back till the last man, that all.

But you were occupied by China for those 1000 years. No Chinese have Vietnamese genes except for ethnic Jing in China and Vietnamese illegal immigrants. But Vietnamese have Chinese DNA.

You are falling into the ARVN Viet Tan trap. There is little conflict between China and Vietnam. The only conflict is in your head.

I just want to ask you: do you know of 1 Vietnamese that went to China, and then hated the experience? Do you know of 1 Vietnamese that went to China and experienced racism? But how do white people treat you?

Stop drinking the ARVN Viet Tan cool aid, and open your eyes.

i would rather regard the fight being a civil war, today, the civil war has not ended. one day, we will be one nation again.

Vietnam and China are already socialist brothers. Brothers should know how to compromise. China has already given up occupied, totally controlled territory on land, so it is only natural that Vietnam should give up its "claims" on the sea.

China should forget about this "claims", coz those islands are so small, anf we can blow them away with Scud-D ,Yahkont any time we want, so no one can occupy the whole SCS(East sea )
